New Years Eve

I thought I would take a look see, around my yards to see what is happening on this last day of  2024.

Do you know what this is?

It is my Rosemary bush which is bursting with vibrant blooms, creating a stunning display of delicate purple flowers. As I watched closely, I could see bees busily flitting from blossom to blossom, indulging in the sweet nectar. or is it savory? I was trying to capture a video of the bees happily at work.

Soon a vibrant array of blossoms will burst forth.

Margarite Daisies'

Last week brought us quite a bit of rain! When I step on the stones in the grass, I can't help but hear the sound of slosh slosh from all that water.

We hang our hula skirts out to dry!

A few summers ago, I picked this hula skirt for a patio party. It wrapped around the table, giving my patio a Hawaiian look. My husband creatively turned it into cozy bedding for Baby Jesus in the manger. It’s made of plastic, which means we can bring it out year after year with a little care.

We want to build a stable for the Holy Family in 2025 so we can better protect them from the rain and elements. This way, they'll always have a place - ideally, a cozy tiny house would be nice, even if it doesn't quite fit the story! Ha ha.

The grapevines are beautiful in winter.

We hope to do some work on our front yard this coming year.

After a few storms, the redwood trees are actually doing pretty well. Remember that crazy 119-degree day when they got scorched? The wind helped clear off all the dead stuff, and even though they look a bit more bare than before, they're holding up nicely. It’s hard to believe I thought they were done for!

The hubby's making pizza for dinner tonight, and we'll catch a movie. We'll give Laydee a tranquilizer and fingers crossed we don’t get woken up by firecrackers and gunshots!

2024 was a great year for me. I hit the big 7-0! I feel pretty good overall—just a few aches and pains that I've gotten so used to that I hardly even notice them anymore.

Happy New Year Everybody!

2025 will be a good year.

As the new year begins, scripture reminds us of God's faithfulness and the hope of new beginnings.

Lamentations 3:22-23:
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
This passage reminds us that God loves us and shows mercy every day.

Philippians 3:13-14:
"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
This encourages us to focus on our future calling in Christ and leave past burdens behind.

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
This verse highlights our transformation and new life in Christ as a new creation.

Isaiah 43:18-19
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
This passage highlights God's power to create new beginnings and work in our lives during difficult times.

These scriptures are a powerful foundation for hope and renewal as we embrace the new year, placing our trust in God's promises and His transformative work in our lives.

  1. I enjoyed reading all of the scriptures...thank you. We have a few things blooming around here, but not my rosemary bush...I have had it for years and it has never bloomed. I am happy to see that yours is. I also enjoyed seeing the grapevine during the dormant season...they interest me because of the many twigs that intertwine. Hope you are having a wonderful New Years Eve and I wish for you an Awesome 2025!!

    1. It grows like a weed here. I buy it as a tiny plant and then let it grow. Little did I know it would spread, get big and bloom. It is a nice color of blue.

  4. Our plants are at rest. The world as I know it is covered in snow. January is our coldest month so I am planning to get lots done inside over the next few weeks.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year, I am however not optimistic about things here in Canada, between the fights in our parliament and other worldly things being threatened, life could get much harder in the New Year. Still, blessings to all of you.

    God bless.

  7. Amen! I love all the scriptures you shared. What a joy we have in Christ, and studying His Word gives us so much hope and transforming words that help us grow into the people Christ intends us to be. We are blessed to be His children. I love the pictures of the rosemary in bloom. I guess I didn't know it did that, as I have never grown any. It's very pretty. Happy new Year! I am hearing fireworks here already, and it's only 7:43 p.m.! Good night! See you next year!

    1. Yes we are blessed.
I bought my rosemary as teeny tiny plants and just let the have their way - they grew in size and flower. The flowers remind me of lavender and can be infused in butter and eaten.

Wow already with the fireworks? Nothing here yet - it’s only 5:08. I’m hoping it rains but the forecast says only a small chance. Laydee is tranquil and hopefully she won’t get too traumatized.
