Just Soaking It All In.

I’ll keep this brief because, honestly, I'm running on fumes! This morning, I was jolted awake at 5 a.m. by a ridiculously catchy tune that my husband had been humming earlier, and at 5 am it was so stuck in my head that I couldn't shake it off! The funny part? I can’t even remember what the song was now! I made sure to tell him:  no more humming or singing those catchy jingle-type tunes before bedtime, please.

Needless to say, I felt like a walking zombie at Bible Study. I made it through,  came home and couldn't wait to take a nap for about an hour. I'm still feeling a bit tired, so my guilty husband has volunteered to peel the potatoes and get them ready for mashing. What a guy!

It's WINTER again.

It’s a bit chilly out there, and the winds are starting to pick up! Right now, we’re sitting at a brisk 51 degrees. It looks like we might be in for a few days of this cooler weather, with an off-and-on season possibly lingering for another month. We're already at 127% of our normal rainfall for a third year! The official rainy season is all the way into April, so it's possible we’ll be making good use of our umbrellas for a while! I’m totally okay with it. Plus, we always have some spring breaks to look forward to between rains.

Just soaking it all in before it slips away!

Truth be told I'm not an umbrella person. I'd rather just get wet! They always seem to be a hassle, especially on windy days or when I’m trying to get out of the car. It’s like they have a mind of their own, turning into a battle against the elements. I'd rather embrace the rain than struggle with an umbrella!

I had things I was going to post, but I am too tired to get into them. My mind is mush. So, with that said, I will close up shop and cook my dinner of pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn - I'll go to bed early, and tomorrow will be a new productive day! I hope this isn't the start of some new pattern of sleep.

I've ALWAYS been an excellent sleeper.

Nighty-Nite!

Debby

  3. Hi Debby. I had to chuckle over your umbrella comments. I kind of feel like you do. Plus, my last umbrella, which I loved because it had roses on it, started to pop out and leave the long, uncovered spokes. So I wrapped it up and gave it away. ha haha Thanks for your visits and comment to Writing Straight from the Heart. I appreciate them very much. Have a good day! Susan

  4. It sounds like you’ve had quite a day, Debby! I can totally relate to getting a song stuck in your head and being unable to shake it off. I love how you’ve embraced the rainy weather, even if you're not an umbrella person! Hopefully, you get some good rest tonight and wake up feeling refreshed. Your dinner sounds delicious too – perfect for a cozy evening.

I just shared a new post you are invited to read: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2025/03/devils-pulpit-finnich-glen-liars-spring-outlander.html. Have a lovely Thursday!

  5. Hi Debby, I am glad we are getting the much-needed water here in So CA. Your dinner sounds delicious! My husband can't eat pork shops anymore or anything pork. I usually get it when we go out. I don't the umbrella either. I wear a rain jacket with a hood. It will be pouring Thursday, and I don't have to go anywhere. Somedays I just need to rest.

  7. all your patterns even sleep will really change after you reach 80, trust me.. bob sings/hums and whistles all day long and I pick them up and will be humming in the kitchen and say what is your song for today? is it this one? I don't do umbrellas either. most of the time in Florida we can wait it out, they are fast and gone.. now we have no rain at all. and this is our rain season. maybe you are going through time change changes... I am....

  8. So glad I'm not the only one who gets silly songs stuck in her head! We're due for some more wet and stormy weather, too. Your dinner sounds like a perfect antidote for the Ides of March.

  9. I have that happen with songs too. It's so frustrating!
I hope you got some good rest last night.
I feel the same way about umbrella's. I only use them for complete downpours.

  10. I agree with you about umbrellas.

  11. Your night's sleep sounds like mine every night! I don't like umbrellas either but will use them if I'm not wearing something with a hood.

  12. Yumm on your dinner last night. Pork chops is one of my favorites. Tonight we are having "Glop" its everything but the kitchen sink on noodles.
Hope you had a good nights sleep and can face today all bright eyed and bushy tailed..Why is it that its the craziest songs or tunes that get stuck in the head and go on forever? I'm right there with you...

    1. Ha ha, never heard it called Glop before. We call it jump for the cupboards at my house! Which includes the freezer or refrigerator!

  14. Hope you get a good nights sleep and you're raring to go tomorrow.
I am not a fan of umbrellas either, especially if it's windy! :)

  15. It's still time change week...and that takes me a week or more to adjust to, so don't be too hard on yourself! Funny about the jingle in your head. That happens to me too. I hate it when something gets stuck in there and I can't sleep! Then hubby wakes me up right on time regardless of how much sleep I had. We MUST stay on our schedule/routine he says. I say, I'm retired. It's time to not worry about a schedule. But I do know that we both do better when we stick to a routine, so routine it is. Naptime after lunch is a must. LOL. Enjoy the rain and be thankful, as you are already. I wear a waterproof hooded jacket when it rains, which is much better than dealing with an umbrella most of the time. Yeah, getting in and out of the car with one kind of defeats the whole purpose of the umbrella in the first place! LOL.

  16. We have been having big rain storms for the past few days. It is wonderful. So. California has had droughts and now this rain. Good or bad. Depends on where you are here. In the wildfires, lots of rain can lead to mudslides.

  17. Oh Debbie me and a co-worker were singing a tune yesterday. He sang a bit and then I finished it. It was too funny...but I understand not being able to get it out of your head. Janice

  18. That's a good percentage for our rainfall. I looked at the forecast, and rain is still coming up here in the mountains. I'm always glad about that. I chuckled at your umbrella comment. I'm not an umbrella person either!
