Halloween Pasts
Have a wonderful evening, whatever you choose to do! For us, it feels like any typical Friday night. With fewer kids around the last couple of years, our neighborhood has gone dark. There are so many fun alternatives for the children that parents seem to prefer. From church harvest festivities and Trunk or Treat events in parking lots to parading through the local malls and nursing homes.
Believe me, the little children are not lacking in candy or dress-up fun.
Debby
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6;12

Quiet night here. Went to dinner and now home watching Halloween movies. Happy Halloween. Your past costumes looked cool! Janice
ReplyDeleteIt was a very quiet night last night. No children.
DeleteOh my gosh, you were adorable! And you look like a 1920's Flapper. You really WERE famous for a day!
ReplyDeleteYeah, good times!
DeleteHi Debby, I enjoyed your pictures! I like that teens enjoy the fun going house to house instead of getting in trouble. Our grandson helped us pass out candy at our church's Pumpkin fest. He is going Trick or Treating tonight with his friends.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get one trick-or-treater last night. Very quiet evening.
DeleteLove the photos of you and also of your friends. Looks like happy memories for sure! I was dressed up tonight to pass out candy...kind of a cross between you and your friend on the left in the first picture. I was supposed to be a queen, but someone thought I was a fortune teller! I had fun dressing up, but then it got dark and cold and I was cold and ready for it to be over! LOL. Thank you for sharing your fun memories with us. Sweet innocent days of yore!!
ReplyDeleteOh what a hoot! I hope you took pictures of yourself. We had no activity here - extremely quiet.
DeleteHalloween has certainly changed over the years.
ReplyDeleteYes it has
DeleteI so loved seeing these photos of you as a child dressed up for Halloween, Debby! We did pull our blinds and turned off the outdoor lights tonight only because our driveway is so steep, and we don't need that kind of liability at our age with folks trying to navigate that terrain. I really think that more and more people are taking their children to Trunk or Treat events these days, and that's a good thing. Blessings for a beautiful All Saints' Day!
ReplyDeleteI can understand that. There was nothing gone on in our neighborhood last night. Quiet
DeleteI love those photos of you!
ReplyDeleteI lived on a farm in the country and no one went trick or treating there, even in my school most kids didn't go, so I never felt like I was missing out.
We had one 2 kids at our house this year.
I have you beat -we have zero

DeleteOMG! Great photos. What a hoot you are and were. Love it. Thanks for sharing these. Happy Halloween and boogie boogie.
ReplyDeleteOld photos are fun
DeleteHow fun, these images! Even the fonts you've found ... I've never seen anything like those before. My father had a standing ashtray much like the one in your last photo. Part of my chores was cleaning it each Saturday morning; maybe that's why, to this day, the aroma of cigars doesn't bother me.
ReplyDeleteHow fun you noticed that ashtray! I was going to mention it. My dad quit smoking shortly after and never smoked again.
DeleteI loved seeing the photos of you when you were a kid. It was fun to get all dressed up and wear "lipstick and makeup". It was a big deal for me.
ReplyDeleteWe only had 11 kiddos last night. Really cute little ones.

We had zero. The street was quiet. They all went elsewhere.
DeleteFifteen minutes of fame - how lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd it totally went to my head
DeleteGee you were famous! I think that was so cute. I was a gypsy once too!
ReplyDeleteI was a gypsy before I even knew what a gypsy was.
DeleteSuch cute costumes! Looks like you were pretty popular. That Examiner ad is pretty awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing these old photos
ReplyDeleteWow awesome memories-thanks for sharing. Thanks for following me on my new blog It was a stressful week especially losing my primary email too-got that back
ReplyDeleteKathy
Well done my famous friend. Only one child knocked on our door, but that was one more than last year. Now what to do with the candy that is left.......
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
What fun memories! You were feeling cool....and looking rather cool as well, I would say!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great costumes you had! I'm never home for Halloween. This year I worked but usually I go with my grandkids. This year we also took them trick or treating where I work one night when they gave buckets of candy to all the residents to pass out! It was so fun!
ReplyDeleteNice to see those photographs of you.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy new month of November.
All the best Jan
