Tuesday Four - Just Wondering

Mt Shasta last year looks like the cover of a Christmas Card, doesn't it? One of the prettiest photos I ever captured.

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Christmas Eve, followed by Christmas Day! It amazes me how quickly time passes. Blink, and we'll be in another new year

Tuesday 4. Join here.

1. When was the last time you tried something new?

I avoid crowds. I typically prefer smaller gatherings, but the recent  excitement surrounding our town's Christmas Tree lighting and the grand opening of the much-anticipated public market drew me in! Although the event was bustling with crowds, (practically shoulder to shoulder) I found it to be a delightful experience. The atmosphere was vibrant and cheerful, and everyone we met was so friendly.  It was a wonderful evening filled with warmth and community spirit.

 2. Who in your family do you compare yourself to?

My Dad -

He was quiet, a deep thinker and he liked working with his hands.  He gave me my love for the great outdoors. He was an entrepreneur and  he had a successful business.

The older I get the more I am amazed at how much we are alike. But without leaving Mom out of the equation, I'm noticing her influence as well.

 3. What lesson in life did you learn the hard way?

Having lived the first 30 years of my life, doing my own thing, I eventually learned through the natural consequences of that selfish life that my life was out of control - I wasn't happy and I needed to change my ways, and follow God. Over 40 years now and I'm grateful every single day!

 4. What can you do today that you weren't able to do before.

I say, "NO" real good now!

Thanks for stopping by. I know the next couple of days will be hectic, for all of us.  May you all reflect on that precious Babe in the Manger and be truly blessed by His first coming and ever expectant for His second coming.

Debby

  6. I just in the past 5 years figured out I AM my Daddy... we were formed in the same pod for sure. All the things I did not care for while living at home until I was 19, are now ME.. I even see daddy when I look in the mirror.. My brother got the Mother genes.. temperament I mean.. he is mild and kind and I am volatile and sometimes mean, just like daddy... If I had understood this years ago I would have had a much happier childhood. Merry Christmas, enjoy the holidays.. that snow pic is awesome.. picture postcard perfect

  11. I do think I have the temperment of my Mom and the quietness she showed. I also think I have some of my Dad's artistic bent. I am grateful for both and their guidance and support.
I am continually learning to take one step at a time and trusting the Lord more every day.
Love the "Christmas " card Mt. Shasta. Gorgeous!!! Its pretty sloppy at our house this morning. No damage or flooding. Dave did turn the pump on at 4AM this morning. Got the puddles taken care of.
Enjoy your time with family and have a Merry Christmas.

  12. I have wondered if the severe rain storms with flooding have affected your part of California but I guess I'm now hearing it's been more of a Southern California thing.

Since hitting age 70 (which I'm well past now), I have seen the value of having a more teachable attitude. I wish I had reached that understanding years earlier.

    Merry Christmas!

  13. What a handsome chap, your father! I wish I were more like my mother (think 'earth angel') yet I'm far too hedonistic like my dad.
I could stare at that photograph of Mt. Shasta all day!

  17. Wow! That photo is simply outstanding! I can really relate to your answer to #1 because that is pretty much how I am too though once I get out to something I often enjoy it a lot, especially at Christmas. Have a beautiful Christmas holiday.

  18. That is an awesome photo of Mount Shasta that you took! So pretty. I've seen that picture of your dad before, he was handsome. I also try to avoid crowds, and usually go to the grocery store when they first open. But taking a trip to So Cal, it's hard to avoid crowds haha. I hope you had a nice Christmas Debby. Mine was wonderful. A big tree in my yard fell to the ground, and the neighbors have been gathering and clearing, a big mess. So thankful no damage was done to the house.
