I hope this final day of January finds you well. I'm sure many of you will be glad to move on to a new month that brings us closer to Spring. The sky is beautifully clear today, and with my husband visiting his daughter, I have the delightful opportunity to enjoy some precious alone time.
I always try to notice God in the ordinary throughout my day. Those quiet moments where He invites me to see more deeply. This one moment stayed with me, and I wanted to share.
We had plenty that night. We went out for our end-of-the-month dinner at a steakhouse. We left full and content, with a bag of boxed leftovers from the huge meal. I felt the weight of that (literally). I remembered what it’s like to not have enough. There were seasons in my life when feeding my boys took faith, creativity, and a lot of divine interventions. Those memories never leave you.
As we were backing out of our parking slot, I noticed an elderly man, mid to late 70's, sitting near the restaurant entrance - his belongings gathered beside him in a grocery cart. Without speaking to each other, my husband and I both sensed the same gentle prompting from the Holy Spirit. I love it when God does that!
The bag of boxed leftovers was handed to him.
“In the name of Jesus.”
I loved what my husband said - Jesus didn’t heal everyone He passed. He did what the Father showed Him to do. Faith is trusting that God continues the work long after our small part is finished.
There may be a quiet Holy Spirit-moment waiting for you today.
Be blessed!
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Hebrews 13:2
Enjoy the day and stay warm
