Laydee's Doing Great!

What a gorgeous day it was!

We enjoyed an overcast day and a little rain - nothing to "write home about" but just enough to share my glee on this blog. Everything smells so refreshing.

Delicate and charming, the tiny alyssum blossoms reveal their intricate beauty up close.

The day began early as we dropped Laydee off at the veterinarian’s office for her surgery, before 7:00 a.m. Later, at 8:00 a.m., I settled into the dental chair for my teeth cleaning. 😁

I went to my cardiologist appointment today to have the bandage removed from my incision. As the nurse gently peeled back the dressing, I had a brief glimpse of the healing site. It looked surprisingly good, though I was reminded that it still requires about ten more days for full incision recovery. The doctor advised against swimming until mid-October.

The area surrounding the incision has taken on a shade of yellow, marked by small pinpoint bruises from the lidocaine injections. It doesn't hurt at all, even when they press on it. It's amazing. It actually hurt more when they removed the adhesive bandage.

I’m eagerly awaiting Laydee’s return home. My husband is picking her up, and I’ve really missed her today. The house feels quieter without her, and I can't wait to have her back where she belongs.

I will be taking a break from our adult fellowship tomorrow night and Thursday, Isaiah Study, to supervise her and prevent her from chewing off her bandage. This unexpectedly gives me some much-needed time off from a busy week.

She's HOME!!!

The instructions are saying to watch for depression, loss of appetite for over 2 days, refusal to drink water for over 1 day, weakness, elevated temperature, diarrhea, vomiting, discomfort, and coughing

Restrict activity for 10-14 days.

They gave her an injection for pain control that should last 3 days, and a long-acting topical opioid pain reliever should last for 4 days.

I forgot that the tail is part of the spine, and docking a tail can be very painful. Fortunately, they took off very little of the tail - just the tip where the cyst/growth was.

It's time to give my furry girl some love and attention! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone at the Hodgepodge tomorrow.

See you there!

She’s had a sleepy day - a little loopy but she’s eating well and drinking water.

  7. I'm glad to hear Laydee is doing well. She has been through a lot with the surgery and healing. Also, I'm glad you are doing well with the incision, Debby. I love that picture of the little frog peeking out from the pot. And you got some rain! We did too! Not a lot....but I'll take it. It's supposed to rain all this week.

Happy 1st day of October Debby!

    1. Ohhhh Sheri I loved today. All day it was a misty rain which reminded me more of the pea soup fog we had on the coast, growing up. I’m so excited to be home when the weather is cozy like this. Plus with the windows open it smell so fresh in the house.
Enjoy October, Sheri. It’s going to be a falltastic month!

  9. Sorry to be out of the loop. Sounds like all good news all around for you and the pup. You reminded me that I think I have a dental cleaning coming up in a month or so, ha ha! I better check into that.
