Real Love on the Hodgepodge

 1. Did you watch the Super Bowl?  Did your team win? What's your favorite game day snack for  whatever sport is happening?

No* No* N/A

2. What's your 'superpower'?

Intercessory prayer?

Intercessory prayer is not a "superpower" rather, it is a beautiful expression of love and support within the body of Christ. It involves praying on behalf of others and bringing their needs and concerns before God. Scripture encourages us to pray for one another, emphasizing the power and effectiveness of these prayers, as well as the assurance that our prayers are heard and valued by Him.

While not my superpower, never underestimate the power of prayer!

3. Will you do anything special on Valentine's Day? No

If so do share. We’ll lovingly wish each other a Happy Valentine's Day and go on enjoying the day as if it were any other day. As we get older, every day with each other is Valentine's Day!

Any thoughts on/about this particular holiday?

Yes, but I’ll keep them to myself

Share a favorite verse or quote relating to love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 beautifully captures the essence of love as defined by God who is the author of LOVE!

Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
 it does not boast,
 it is not proud.
 It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking,
 it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

4. Are you a fan of the rom-com genre? If so what's one of your favorites?

First off, I never heard of "Rom Com" before and had to look it up. 👀  No I’m not a fan but I do enjoy the vintage ones chick flicks I watched as a teen.

If a Man Answers (Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee)
Pillow Talk
Barefoot in the Park
Send me no Flowers
Father Goose
All the Gidget movies
All the Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon movies
Where the Boys Are (Connie Francis)
The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara

Some more recent after I was an adult:
You've Got Mail
While You Were Sleeping
Groundhogs Day

If you're not a movie go-er then what about a book you love that features a great love story?

Ruth and Boaz in the Book of Ruth

Ruth’s noble character captivated Boaz, a man of strong faith, and their mutual respect gradually evolved into a beautiful love. In a humble display of vulnerability, Ruth expressed her longing to join his household, whether as a servant or as his beloved wife. In response, Boaz dedicated himself to ensuring that Ruth became his cherished partner and wife.

Now that's romantic!

How about a favorite love song?

This song has become my new favorite love song ever since I first heard it.

5. Let's get creative...write an acrostic using the word L-O-V-E.

Sorry Janice, I don't want to get creative.

This will have to do...😀

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The greatest love story in the Bible is the story of God's love for humanity, culminating in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This beautiful love story is woven throughout the Bible, showcasing how God earnestly seeks a relationship with us. In the New Testament, we see this love embodied in Jesus Christ, who came to give His life for our sins even when we didn’t deserve it (Romans 5:8).

His incredible, sacrificial love is the bedrock of our faith, offering forgiveness, reconciliation, and the promise of eternal life to everyone who believes (John 3:16, 1 John 4:9-10). This love story highlights God’s personal affection for each of us, welcoming believers into a relationship where we are truly known and cherished.

This life-changing love empowers us to extend that same love to others, just as Christ loves us (John 13:34-35).

It truly is the greatest love story ever told

Until Next week, be well and know that you are loved and cherished by God.

Debby

  3. Oh Debby...such great things in this post today. The song touched my heart. I actually looked up the english version. Absolutely beautiful. Intercessory prayer can be so powerful and what a true Blessing it is to pray on behalf of others, or to have someone praying on your behalf. We did watch the Super Bowl, as Patrick Mahomes is big around here. Home town guy and the thing that is wonderful about him is he is a Christian and an all around great guy. although my team (the Chiefs) did not win, I have hope for them in the future. Valentines Day is not a huge thing for us, although we do give cards to the kids. Wishing you and yours a Wonderful Valentines day.

    1. I wasn’t aware it was in English. I’ll have to look for that but my preference is the Italian. Such a romantic language plus I’ve always enjoyed Italian opera.

I used to be a big football fan - 49er fan. The best days was when Joe Montana’s and Dwight Clark. I haven’t enjoyed it since football got all woke and to me, the half time shows are just not my cup of tea.

If I had little ones, I’d do Valentine’s Day special for them!

    1. I love the old movies best. Seems all they do now, is jump into bed after the first date and I don’t want to see all that.

  8. I love Sarah Brightman's voice and of course he is one of the best. We've never made a big deal out of Valentine's Day here either. I did get a few little goodies for the kids, but those are fun to buy and surprise them with. I'm going to make a special dessert but we'll probably go out for pizza since dinner out with a 2-year old can be dicey lol. Have a nice week.
