I drove up there real quick today because I wanted to get this photo and compare.
Happy Saturday to one and all.
Today, I feel fine. The husband is still coughing which takes a lot out of a person. He was doing something and got dizzy. He still needs to take it easy.
There is no church tomorrow for both of us. I had previously arranged for someone else to pick up the bagels since we had planned to do something. Now, we'll just stay home.
Garage Door
We ordered the 16x7 classic steel garage door in Charcoal. It does not have windows and has an insulated 18.4 R-value, so we've gone with bare insulation to really good. No windows should help with the summer heat. I have my freezer out there, and it gets so hot out there that the outside of the freezer feels warm to the touch. It should save us electricity by cooling the freezer. We aren't fortunate enough to justify an AC unit in our garage like others have. That would be nice.
So now we wait till the contractor calls us - usually takes a week.
Everything came to $2903.00 at Home Depot
They gave us the Behr paint color code for the exact color of the door so we can customize our front door and anything else.
Lowes and the local garage door companies were way too expensive —upwards of $5000. So when we went into Home Depot and got the estimate, we knew.
6 months of interest-free.
It's our anniversary gift to each other! 👍
At the end of the month, on the 28th, we’re going out for a nice dinner with my son Navy, and his wife, Sara, to celebrate our anniversaries. Navy and Sara were married on February 29, 2020, (Leap Year) and we were married on February 16. I’m letting Sara choose the restaurant since we often get stuck going to the same places. I trust their judgment because they eat out frequently. Additionally, my 71st birthday is on the 2nd, so it will be a celebratory dinner for all of us.
Closing out in Worship
I’m reflecting on Revelations 15, which features the powerful Song of Moses. Although we can only imagine its true sound, it brought to mind a beautiful messianic worship song that embodies a magnificent Davidic dance.
The Song of Moses by Jonathon Settel.
No one conveys emotion through song quite like Jonathon did.
It's a beautiful worship song.
May this music bring you the same blessings it brings upon me.
A day certainly did make a difference. I'm sorry your hubby is still coughing. It really does tire a person out. You can both rest tomorrow. The new door is exciting and will look so nice! I Know you'll enjoy that night out with Navy and Sara. Now I'm going to listen to this song you linked.
I am enjoying listening to this music...I've never heard of him before, and this is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this song with us. I've been truly worshiping and enjoying it as he sings. Wow..just getting to the end of it. Really beautiful. Marvelous. I am sorry your hubby is still sick, and I hope he feels better soon. A day of rest is waht he needs, I am sure. Take care and God bless you both.
So sorry about your hubby...I hope he gets to feeling better soon. Nice garage door, I like Home Depot, but the hubby prefers Lowes, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day.
WOW cannot believe how much of a change in one day. Congrats on getting the garage door. I never had one with windows in it. Was always afraid someone could look in. LOL My old house had an attached garage, but was not air-conditioned and I also had my freezer in there. This garage is detached and we dont have a freezer anymore. Happy Anniversary to you too. Hope hubby is feeling better. Janice
I like the door and sounds like you found the right deal. our garage is an oven in our hot summers, but nothing out there but two trucks and Bob's tools and washer and dryer. we got a hurricane door when Ian kicked ours in, and it made it through Helen and Milton. have fun out with your son and his wife and don't forget to report where and what and when and how. ha ha.. have fun, stay safe in the coming cold and snow. we are hoping for rain today, a front is coming mid day and brings a few cooler days, we had to turn AC on for the past 4 days, now we might need heat.
Oh goodness...this is a huge difference and I'm happy you got the picture to show us the comparison. Amazing how face the sun can melt the snow. Glad your husband is feeling better but I hope you all keep a close watch on the cough. Seems like the coughing part is lasting a long time with this years virus. Grandson #3 stopped by yesterday and he is going on two weeks of being over the crud, but his cough is terrible. Happy Early Anniversary wishes to each of you. You will have to post pictures of the restaurant that Sara chooses. Happy Sunday....a Beautiful day to love the Lord.
This was the first thing I listened to this morning. Thank you so much. It is True Worship and I like the singer's voice too. So sorry your hubby is still coughing..I sure know how that is. Praying for a full recovery. Good idea to stay home. It just started to rain again but I see the sun trying to peek out from behind the clouds. Sue
Our comparison picture would be the opposite as we just got 3-4 inches of snow on top of the 3-4 inches we already had! I'm looking forward to seeing your new garage door. I'm glad you got the darker one.
Home Depot really did y'all right! That's a significant difference in quotes, wow. How fun to celebrate two anniversaries; I never knew anyone who married or had a February 29 birthday. So you're a March baby, too? Mine's not until mid-March, but we're going out this coming Saturday to celebrate my DIL and hubby's birthdays. Going to watch the video now!
First of all, Happy Anniversary! I hope you have a good time and find a great place for dinner to celebrate. Wow, garage doors are expensive! Up here, my car is exposed to the harsh weather, so I have to get oil changes frequently. I have never heard of A/C in the garage, as we've never had that either. That's something I wouldn't even consider, as it is an expense that I don't need. Now, I am wondering how far Whiskeytown is from you, since you drove there today?
Have a wonderful week ahead, Debby. I hope you stay well.
I think states like Florida or Texas have air conditioning in their garages. I have a friend who uses an evaporative cooler in their garage and another person who has a portable air conditioner that he rolls in and out while working out there. I'm just hoping it will provide some relief during our hot arid summers.
That's really something about the two photos a day apart. Glad you are feeling okay and I hope your husband feels better soon. Hope you love your new garage door. Happy Anniversary to all of you. Have a wonderful dinner on the 28th.

I can't wait! It's been a year since we did anything around here.

He's better today - still recovering.
DeleteThere is a beautiful worship dance to it. I'll try and find it.
What a huge difference in the two photos!! The garage door sounds like what you were looking for. Will you paint the doors and shutters to match?
ReplyDeleteJust the door not the shutters.
DeleteLoved the song. Thank you for sharing him. I will look up Rev.15 now. Hope your hubby recovers soon.
ReplyDeleteThank You Susan

ReplyDeleteWe always check with Lowes - We bought our living carpet through Lowes...

ReplyDeleteI can't see out the windows - but I guess a bad guy could peak inside. It tends to collect a lot of webs...
DeleteWhat a difference!!!!! I am glad you found the garage door you want for such a great price.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Always trying to stay frugal, Jackie!

It's not that cold - cold for us at 52 degrees.

Coughs tend to linger. Main thing is him not overdoing it.

ReplyDeleteIt's close to black but with some cool tones to it. It's nice.

Lowes was high. I was surprised.
DeleteThere seem to be many bloggers with March birthdays! I'm the 2nd.
My son and his wife celebrate with a big trip every 4 years!

I googled it - 14.3 miles to Whiskeytown Lake.

Glad to hear you're feeling better and hope your husbands cough is gone. You saved a good amount of money on the garage door!!
ReplyDeleteIt "Pays" to get estimates and do your research.
