A couple of weeks back, two of my three sons returned to Crater Lake, Oregon, a location we had explored together years ago when they were young. At that time, I was a single parent, and it was our first real vacation as a family of four! I used all my savings to travel up there and have a truly enjoyable vacation. However, every bit of it was worthwhile, and it gave me a sense of being fully capable of supporting my sons. Clearly, those memories held a special significance for them, as well - sparking a desire to relive those cherished moments
ℹ️ Crater Lake Information
The rim of the caldera varies in height from 7,000 to 8,000 feet, and indeed, those are snowy areas along the edges. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 1,949 feet, making it the deepest lake in the U.S., the second-deepest in North America, and the seventh-deepest globally.
The volcanic activity 🌋 in this region is supplied by subduction occurring off the Oregon coast as the Juan de Fuca Plate descends beneath the North American Plate.
Subduction is a geological process where a denser tectonic plate slides beneath a less dense plate and sinks into the Earth's mantle, typically occurring at convergent plate boundaries. This process forms deep ocean trenches, releases fluids that cause melting and magma formation, and leads to volcanic activity and powerful earthquakes along the subduction zone

Wizard Island.
Several years back, during the autumn season, my husband and I (and Laydee) took a couple of days to Crater Lake since he had never visited and had always wanted to see it. We booked a stay at a dog-friendly bed and breakfast.

Crater Lake is part of the Cascade Mountain range -from southern British Columbia through Washington State, Oregon and Far Northern California.
They both had a great time and explored the Lake of the Woods area. Oregon is a lovely state that we used to visit often. They didn't make it to Coos Bay - too busy lake fishing and the fish were biting.
