A Book, a Bag and a Purse

I received this year's BSF study book -

Our Leaders Launch is August 28. The first class starts on Wednesday, September 11. Leaders will start at 8:30 a.m.- 10:am,

We'll enjoy a 30-minute break, and the main study will begin from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Wednesday Mornings will pack a punch that I am not quite used to.

I feel fully prepared and confident. I'm feeling eager and thrilled to begin.

I recently purchased a briefcase handbag from Amazon on Prime Days to conveniently carry my study book, Bible, and necessary files.

The intricate embossed details on the side really caught my eye.

It's made of vegan leather.

Funny, back in my day, we just called it fake leather!

I enjoy keeping things in order,
and the handbags I had been using weren't meeting my needs.

I've become someone who always carries a bag with them. One bag is for my Al-anon meetings, and the other is for my Thursday Bible Discussion group. This way, I can stay organized and won't have to search for anything when needed.

Are you a Bag Lady?

Have you hit that age,
Do you bring everything with you except the kitchen sink?

I opted for a dainty little purse after struggling with shoulder issues in the past. My previous purses were just too heavy for me. Now, I prefer a crossbody purse to wear instead of constantly holding onto it. Unfortunately, there have been reports of purse grabs in town, so I'm extra cautious.

Here's my little purse.

My tiny purse is surprisingly spacious, considering its size. It fits my iPhone, a small tube of hand lotion, a pepper spray lipstick container for safety, a slim wallet that used to belong to Michael (which holds my IDs, medical cards, and debit cards), and my key fob. I have to regularly tidy it up because I still catch myself trying to stuff unnecessary items into it.

I found this photo in my Blogger photo gallery, and according to the date, I purchased this small purse on September 7, 2021. It has been a reliable purse, but I've noticed that the zipper isn't working as smoothly as it used to, so I think it's time for a new purse. I don't like to buy expensive or designer handbags. Instead, I prefer to choose based on what I like and what feels comfortable to carry.

Thanks for being here!

Warm Regards,
Debby

  1. I have a pocketbook that I always take with me but it isn't huge and I just carry some necessary items!! :). I like your small purse.

    1. My small purse carries all that I need. A more oversized purse has me carrying too many things I can do without.

  2. I collect purses, and actually have dozens! I have some almost new Vera Bradley that I found at Goodwill. Anyway, in the last couple years, I found that I needed a smaller cross body bag just like you! I got a few really nice ones from Amazon. Your church one is really nice! Perfect for your needs. How many will be in the study?

    1. BSF has about 350 women in total and they have classes for infants, preschool, grade school and high school for the homeschooling moms that will also be in attendance. Each group starts off with around 15 women but it dwindles down as the year progresses. They also have a vibrant men’s group that my husband will also attend.

  3. I am now your newest follower and am wondering how you found me? Just curious.
I am totally a bag lady in every single way! The purse that suits me best is a denim one made from jeans. I have over a dozen purses and as many wallets. Some work and some don't. Some are for certain ocassions and others for other ones. I have way too many shoes and purses and hope to purge these next year! I do love bags of every sort......

  4. Cute, cute tote! And my daily purse looks similar to your brown one. Yes. I am a bag lady. My husband laughs because I tote a bigger bag in our car with anything and everything I might need. Sam says that the back seat of our car is like a 4th closet for me! lol. You can never have too many bags.

    1. That's a good idea, actually. Then you don't have to carry a bunch of stuff.

  5. Hey Debby....I'm not sure if my comment posted. I was just commenting on how adorable your new bag is. Yes...I am a huge bag person. Hopefully, my other comment will post soon.

  6. I am not a fan of purses but do carry one when I have to. It is a medium size. You found a nice bag for yourself. Yes I called it fake leather too. :-) Janice

    1. I used to love purses, but they're just a catch-all for needless junk I don't need. There was a time when I believed I had to carry everything. Once I shrank down to the bare necessities, after the initial withdrawal, I realized how freeing it was and how I rarely needed any of the stuff I used to carry around.

  7. I am a bag lady, I don't have as many as my sister she has 25 bags me, I only have 4. My small ones have long straps so they can hang across my body, the large ones I have a long key chain attached which I can connect to a trolley aka shopping cart so no one can just grab it and run off

  8. I used to carry a substantial bag that I love, but when I started having some balance issues, I switched to a small purse like the one you've shown above (though mine is black). I'm surprised, too, by how much 'stuff' I can cram into it, but I am very choosy about what I include.
    Blessings, Debby!

  9. nice organizer bag and perfect for your needs. I have one similar, without pockets, real leather but I got it to 3 dollars at the thrift store, have used it since 2017.. I have a cross over like this but I stopped carrying a purse years ago and keep all the STUFF in the console to my SUV.. I have a wrist wallet, wear it on wrist with cards and a 20 dollar bill and my keys on my finger on a wring that fits my middle finger, and phone in my pocket or in a phone case that goes under my shirt.. I like the idea of lipstick pepper spray, I could carry that with me when walking Beau...

  10. I have a crossbody purse which is my go to every day since the beginning of time.
It has great pockets and zipped areas. I don't know what I will do when it falls apart. Its lasted so long because it's Leather, not vegan..that's a funny label you talked about.
When I worked in the trade show business i always had a briefcase with everything but the kitchen sink in it. I did use it and another tote for when I was in Bible Study . They are both in my closet still.

    1. I got rid of my purses—now I have just a few small ones for when I dress up. I still observe the old rule that "purse and shoes" must match—but only for when I am dressing up. It doesn't matter for every day.

  11. I have some small bags and big bags. If I am going to be walking around a lot, I want the smallest bag possible for less weight. I will also use a pretty backpack as a purse. I like both your big bag and small one. They are stylish and it sounds like they get the job done!

  12. Hi Bag Lady, ;-) I am a Bag Lady too. My husband use to steer me away from the purse areas in stores. Hee hee.
I have a larger bag that I take everywhere. A small cross body that I have in the large bag to pull out to go into shops, or outings when I do not want to take the big bag.
    Love, Carla

  13. I thought about buying a bag for carrying bible and books to church and bible study. They look nice and wouldn't mind having one but cheapest is $75 dollars. I'm not sure if there was any discounts. I need to quit ordering online.

  14. I like your little purse. It's the perfect size. No, I'm not a bag lady. I love to see women carrying all their goodies in a big bag, but I usually just carry my wallet when going to the grocery store or outings. I chuckled when you said "fake leather." When we went shopping this last week, it was a pleasant time browsing through all the purses and wallets at Kohl's and Target. ; ) I am seeing some Fall things in the stores already.
