Roadblocks
Lately, I've felt like I'm constantly hitting roadblocks - July was rough, and August doesn't seem any easier. It's as if I've transitioned into a new phase of life, and I am starting to long for the simplicity of my old routine.
Walgreens cannot fill the prescription - I will use an over-the-counter Miralax prep for the colonoscopy. No pharmacy in town can fill the prep solution, so the clinic gave me instructions. I have been dealing with this all week. As if I don't already have things to do, it has robbed me of my time and my peace. I knew I had to get to the bottom of this by this afternoon.
There was an opening for Monday (due to this apparent supply disruption) so I decided to take the Monday exam to finally put an "end" to this nightmare. That means I should have started the prep today. This morning, I only ate a small bowl of cereal with strawberries, half a peanut butter sandwich, and grapes. I think I will be fine since I don't eat heavy fatty foods and big meals.
Now that I understand my path forward, I feel relieved to no longer be kept in suspense. So it will be a fun weekend for me - all white foods and clear broths and liquids.
This will be my first and last!
Enjoy your weekend of delicious food!
I won't be thinking of you.
Debby

Those are the prettiest pictures, Debby. Sometimes a flower is more lovely when it is in the process of blooming. I hope you get things figured out. I used to have a Walgreens in my old town, and really miss it. Roadblocks are no fun - I didn't have internet access for a day or so until it was fixed. I hope you get your peace back soon.

Those sunflowers were from last year. We took a year off from gardening this year, relying only on the preannals to give us color! My son had a big vegetable garden so he gives to us.
DeleteI love sunflowers as they open.
ReplyDeleteHope the prep goes well! I'm going to have to do that soon.
They are so pretty!
DeleteHopefully you’ll not run into so many obstacles like me.
Out of all the things I've ever done prepping for a colonoscopy is at the very bottom in terms of fun.
ReplyDeleteI have to 💯 agree with you on that!
DeleteSoon it will be history.
Well, at least it will soon be over with! I cannot figure out why no one will fill the prep prescription! Your blooming sunflower shots are gorgeous! Let us know how it went when you get home!
ReplyDeleteApparently it’s a supply disruption from the distributor. I did read pharmacies are having a hard time with getting necessary medications in all over and then there are the drug shortages. These issues never happened before.
DeleteLovely Sunflowers! They are one of my favorite domestic flowers.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know there's another supply chain problem out y'alls way.
Sorry but I giggled when you penned get to the bottom concerning a colonoscopy. My twisted sense of humour. Well, ya gotta laugh, right?! Prayers that all goes well.
By the way, I use Miralax whenever needed. Our colon doctor said it's the only safe laxative to use on a regular basis. Makes me good to go ... *giggle* Ok, I'll leave.
Blessings.💙💙
I deliberately added two play on words - “end” and “bottom” and if you have a twisted sense of humor, I do too! God knew to give me three sons!
DeleteThat’s good to hear about MiraLax.
Isn't it crazy how so many of the pharmacies are struggling getting meds? This has been going on here in my area for the last six months. We have had to wait from days to a couple of weeks just to get a simple prescription filled. This is true with the larger pharmacies as well. Prayers for this to be a simple cleansing and a simple test. The sunflower pictures are quite stunning. I love the beauty of the sunflower. Will be checking on you Monday...praying all goes well.
ReplyDeleteA couple years back, I had a hard time getting a prescription for the temporary and limited amount of pain medication I needed after my rotator cuff surgery until the day before.
DeleteOur medical system is just so messed up.
After trying to stomach (pun intended) that gosh-awful 'prep' 15 years ago, I swore "never again." Thankfully last year when an 'at home' test came back positive, I had to swallow my words. The new doctor doesn't even believe in the prep; instead he just had me take mega amount of Ducolax.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know!
I hope it all goes well. This time tomorrow it will be over!
DeleteDid your doctor have a reason for not ordering Cologuard for your screening instead of having to actually go in for colonoscopy? I've used this test at home several times, and it's been very reliable. I pray all goes well for you, Debby!
ReplyDeleteNo. He let me make the choice and after years refusing it, I thought I better go all in. ( no pun intended) Probably because a friend just diagnosed with colon cancer.
DeleteIf Medicare covers it, I’ll do that next time.
I can't believe they can't fill it. ((HUGS)) Take care and God Bless you.
ReplyDeleteI know totally ridiculous
DeleteThinking of you today as you "begin". Praying for peace and that things will be done correctly. I wasn't aware there was a pharma problem..hmmm, makes me wonder what's going on. Kind of wonky to my way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunflower
(((hugs)))
Sue
It will be over with 🔜
DeleteSo sorry...some doctors just believe in the old ways of prepping. Wishing you well as you go through this.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know what’s new or not because I’ve never had one. I go with whatever Medicare pays for!
DeleteLife is full of roadblocks, pot holes and dead ends this is life and we have to travel the road of life the best way we know how. Tim has to go and get the prep stuff for his colonoscopy today he has the procedure done on Friday
ReplyDeleteHope all went well. I hate doctors lately. Your schedule is of little importance to them it seems. Janice
ReplyDeleteIt’s not a done deal yet - my appointment is at 9:45 am.
