Finding Hope and Strength on a Monday
I had such a wonderfully relaxing weekend! On Saturday, I decided to stay in and focus on doing things that made me happy—it was exactly what I needed.
Then, on Sunday, I went to church in the morning and later enjoyed a peaceful drive to French Gulch. It was so quiet and serene, with nobody else around. My husband spent a short time panning for gold and searching for interesting rocks. It's incredible to think that over 170 years ago, this area was where gold was first discovered in the French Gulch area.
The weather had turned notably cooler, and the telltale sign of an impending rainstorm was evident. A smattering of droplets can be observed making contact with the water's surface.
After a brief shower, we could hear the distant rumble of thunder. We decided to head back and relished the cooler temperature by keeping the doors and windows open at home.
The two of us relaxed on the back patio, the air heavy with anticipation as we listened to the distant rumble of thunder. Suddenly, the sky opened up, and rain poured down, drenching everything. It was an intense thunderstorm that carried on throughout the evening and into the night, creating a cozy atmosphere.
At least, I thought so - Laydee didn't like it at all.
After enjoying a couple of leisurely days, I woke up feeling rejuvenated and prepared for the upcoming week.
I took the time to create personalized name tags for each member of my group. I then laminated them to ensure durability. Additionally, I prepared a few extra blank name tags in case new members join our group in the future. I'm glad to have completed this task!
I went to Dollar Tree to look for a journal in which I could record and organize my group's prayer requests.
I enjoy staying ahead of my schedule. The study is not until Wednesday. Right now, I'm trying to get into a comfortable rhythm.
I have a few hours before dinner. My husband is volunteering, and I'm doing the laundry while tidying up the house. Later, he will attend his Bible study.

In a world filled with evil, remember that God is Sovereign and that His purposes will ultimately prevail. Our hope is in the eternal kingdom of God, where justice, peace, and righteousness will reign forever (Revelation 21:4).
Until next time,
Debby

Thunderstorms can be frightening
ReplyDeleteYes there is evil in the world but that isn't a new thing
That's very true, Jo-Anne. Unfortunately evil is to be expected.
DeleteBeautiful photos of the water.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was so pretty and peaceful.
DeleteHey Debby....just reading this post was relaxing to me. I could just see myself sitting there on the bank of that river...maybe even taking a short dip into the water. Glad this was a refreshing day for you. I don't like lightening, but I love to hear the thunder and then to have a nice rain makes it even better. You are so organized and I certainly hope that all of the ladies in your group appreciates all your hard work. Prayers for your study be filled with the Holy Spirit.
ReplyDeleteWith this responsibility I have to be well prepared.
DeleteOh the creek was so lovely. Just what I needed.
Sounds like a perfect, rejuvenating weekend! Your photos are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt truly was.
DeleteI enjoyed this visit so much. The pictures of the river, etc. were very calming, even with the "distant thunder" approaching. Yes, there is a "distant thunder" of more than just a thunderstorm approaching. People need to get their hearts right with God, as Jesus' return is getting closer and closer every day. Thank you for leading the Bible study group on Revelations. I know it will be challenging, but God is with you, and this needs to be taught. I wish I could sit in!! Have a blessed week. Again, God is with you.
ReplyDeleteI’m excited for all that I will learn.
DeleteWhat a lovely spot! And that yellow sky is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have these little secluded spots we like to go to - bring a chair, the dog and just be. It’s so calming.
DeleteSuch beautiful scenery! Wish I could join your Bible study!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is pretty. I wish you all could join up!
DeleteSo happy for your rejuvenating weekend, Debby. That's something we all need from time to time. Your photos are marvelous, too. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIt truly was my Sabbath rest.
DeleteEverything sounds perfect. So glad you went to the French Gulch area. The pictures are lovely. Like the book you found at the Dollar Tree. Also those tags look great!
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat Dollar Tree for these journal books.
DeleteWhat a heartwarming post, today, Debby, and the verse at the end was very special. That was good of you to make name tags for your group and laminate them. And I'm a journal lover, and I've seen this journal around. I really like it. So glad you got rain, rain, rain! We got a little more too, but I'm hoping for a heavy rain. I've never heard of the French Gulch. Will have to look it up. You took some wonderful photos there, and it sounds like a peaceful place to visit.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
French Gulch is in the Whiskeytown Recreation area, just outside of Redding (Westside)
DeleteSheri, which is peaceful. No traffic, no people - you're all alone out there most of the time. Truly a wonderful place to just relax and listen to nature.
