Sidetracked by Voila
My son and I had a blast remaking some photos using this app called Voila. It's free if you don't mind the watermark. I don't know if you've tried it before—it was my first time, and Foodie and I spent a couple of hours just cracking up at some of the crazy enhancements.
So, this one is a cartoon version of Sara, Navy, me, and my husband.
Here's Navy and Sara -
I texted these to Navy, and he got a kick out of them.
My three boys chilling in front of our tree on the first day of school.
Another day hanging out by the tree with my VW bus in the background!
A favorite pic of me and Foodie from back when we were a lot younger.
Last year at Shasta Dam, the enhancer caught my “little old lady” vibe perfectly.
This makes me think of a Disney cartoon. It was during Navy's wedding, and he was putting a corsage on me. The cartoon even showed him looking me in the eyes, and I was doing the same. We both had tears in our eyes.
What really had Foodie and I sprawled on the floor, laughing so hard we could hardly breathe, were the funny depiction of my husband.
Him posing with a Star Wars character in downtown!
Here he is enjoying a camping trip from last summer
He's in total superhero mode here.
He clearly preferred this one above all others.
Here's a pic of Foodie from last summer. I always grab a recent shot of him before he heads off into the wild, you know, just in case. But I won't be using this one.
Naturally, we decided to include our beloved dog and cat in the mix as well, making it a true family affair....

I finally uninstalled the app, and just like that, it was done.
I could’ve been decorating the house, baking cookies, or even doing laundry, but instead, I wasted about two hours with my son without even realizing it.
I'm so blessed that we can laugh together and still have silly fun.
The moral of this story?
- Stop and have some fun.
- Waste some time.
- Do something different.
- Laugh at yourself.
- Be with Family.
Voila App is on Google Play and Apple.

Oh, Debby, these are great! My husband is looking into doing this same thing with some of our photos as he has used AI and found this post of yours so intriguing. Having fun and laughing out loud, especially in this season of joy, can't be beat. Blessings to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun at a gathering with family. We had some good belly laughs on some I didn’t post. Too funny.
DeleteI'd say that was time well spent. I love the pictures, and it shows that you and your son have a fun and happy relationship, and that is worth far more than gold or cookies or especially clean laundry. Those things we can always do when we are alone, but we only have our dear kids with us for limited time periods, and we need to make the most of every minute we can. I know you already know that, and so do I. Sadly, some things can never be recaptured. Time spent with loved ones is one of them, so do it as often as you can, any way you can, by any means that you can.
ReplyDeleteYou’re right and I will continue on with more silly escapades into cartoon land and enjoy every minute of it! Lol
DeleteThese are so fun! We used this app once and did Disney pics of us and the granddaughters. They thought it was great! I love that you had fun with your son doing these.
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool! You are a fast learner. I had never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteI have never used an app like this, but from the pictures I know you had so much fun doing this with your son. It was not wasted time by any means. Janice
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! We all need fun in our lives.
ReplyDeleteHow cute y'all are, and I love your moral to the story! I'm going over to Voila today!
ReplyDeleteI like every single one and can feel the fun you had with your son.. my favorite is you and your son looking into each others eyes. the are all super good photos. I have done that with a few apps, download and play for days or even weeks and then delete.
ReplyDeleteI love the moral of your story. We need to take time to laugh and be creative . These are all so cute and I know you all had lots of belly laughs creating them. I remember my friends and I doing this last year. We laughed so hard and even posted one on facebook. It popped up on my memories the other day and I was like...Why in the world did we post it on facebook? This was a fun post and I sure enjoyed looking at these creative photos..
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful app. I'm sure we'll have hours of fun. Thank you for the info.
ReplyDeleteGod bless always.
Well that sure looks like fun!!
ReplyDeleteYes...the moral of the story is perfect. Stuff will still be there but we must grab the cherished moments and keep them close to our hearts.

What fun pictures you have created, Debby. They look animated. I think my favorite was your three boys standing by the tree on the first day of school. I remember you shared that photo of you and your son before (the real pic). I also like the one of your son putting a corsage on you. I would have tears as well, I just know it. I'm glad you found a fun project to do with your son. They really are the best people to just be yourself with, aren't they?
