Hodgepodge
1. What area of your life feels like you're stuck in a Groundhog's Day loop, doing the same thing over and over?
As a BSF group leader, my life from the end of August to the end of May revolves around studying and training. I don’t feel stuck per se, but I’m definitely in a “work-mode” mindset.
Does it bother you or is that just how life is in this particular season?
No, it doesn't bother me because it is a commitment I made to these women. It's a blessing to be able to serve in this way.
2. Something that makes your heart skip a beat?
So, this question is not about irregular heartbeats?
Sappy, sentimental things give me a lump in my throat - a tear in my eye but I have not noticed my heart skip a beat. 😊
3. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve or are you more of a closed book? Elaborate.
I'm more like a closed book; it takes me time to open up. I don't just randomly trust people; I have to get to know them. People are people, and sometimes, you get hurt.
4. According to Prevention Magazine, these are 25 of the best foods for heart health-
wild salmon, sardines, liver, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, oatmeal, blueberries, coffee, red wine, green tea, soy milk, dark chocolate, raisins, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, whole grains, apples, oranges, grapefruit, avocado, avocado oil, olive oil
Which five do you include in your diet most often? Are there any foods on the list you simply cannot abide?
Olive oil
Avocado
Apples
Raisins
Dark Chocolate
The only items I avoid are wild salmon, sardines, liver, red wine, and soy milk.
I don't listen to or read all this dietary advice—over the years, experts have changed their minds repeatedly. Eggs used to be considered healthy, then they were deemed unhealthy, and now they might be considered good for you again? I do my own thing.
5. What was the last piece of furniture you bought? Is there a piece of furniture you need/want to purchase this year?
Every inch of my little home is already in place; the last thing I needed was a sofa and loveseat. If I wanted to replace something, it might be a new mattress in the next few years. Or possibly some bedroom furniture, but it’s not necessary. I’m content with what I already have.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Thanks for dropping by
Take Care till next Hodgepodge -
Debby

I eat most of the heart health foods except for liver, sardines and grapefruit. I've gotten into the habit of putting walnuts or almonds in my yogurt and now I can't eat it without them!
ReplyDeleteWow that’s good. I love nuts but sometimes they don’t live me. Everything in moderation
DeleteI agree with you about the back-and-forth regarding if foods are healthy or not. I just try to do the best I can every day.
ReplyDeleteExactly - I think the main thing f with us is, we don’t eat a lot of sweets or frozen meals. I have to cook every dinner. No convenient meals. My son is a dietitian so he’s trained me well.
DeleteHa... cute on how you answered #2!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hodgepodge! Carla
LOL
DeleteYes, the whole food thing drives me up the wall! Always changing their minds on what is healthy and unhealthy. And I no longer wear my heart on my sleeve; too many want to break it. Blessings, Debby!
ReplyDeleteSame here, Martha
DeleteI suppose we don't technically need anything, but I do want to update a couple of things. That's the way it is with a house though. You get it just so, then it's time to re-do paint, which leads to more paint, maybe flooring, etc. Hope you have a happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteVery true. Every few years, it’s something if you want to properly maintain your investment.
DeleteAwe...this the cutest random thought... I don't need a single piece of furniture in this house, but I fined myself always shopping for pieces. Sardines, red wine, soy milk and liver are definitely not on my list. These are great answers to your hodgepodge today..
ReplyDeleteOh I love furniture pieces but I avoid shopping. I wouldn’t trust myself plus for me I find shopping and constantly looking at material goods, could begin to make me dissatisfied with that I already have. So no more of that kind of shopping unless I really NEED something!
DeleteRight there with you on those mysterious lumps that jump in my throat at times. (I'm just a sentimental old sap, lol.) Overall I'm pleased to see most of my favorite foods are endorsed by Prevention Magazine, but try not to take this stuff too seriously.
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here eating a snack bag of peanut M&M’s my son gave me. He knows I love them. It’s a treat.
DeleteI like your answers what a cute random thought
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteI try to eat healthy but do not follow any diets. I love the old movies from the 40's and yes some of those are very sappy. Janice
ReplyDeleteI like them too
DeleteI am not a sappy person, so sappy is not my thing. I do eat what I want to eat or did before tummy problems... salmon and sardines are two things I don't eat.. fish taste. ugh. I may try to create a random thought animation on the iPad.. hummmm thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhen you finally develop some gastrointestinal issues, there’s things you can’t eat. I ate a more varied diet in my younger years. The last time I was visiting my brother in Alabama, I got sick from all the fried foods. I’m not used to that - or maybe it was the fried pickles and boiled peanuts that had me hurling in the middle of the night? A lot of the restaurants we went to must cook with a lot of fat too. I’m just not that used to that.
DeleteNice to visit you today.
ReplyDeleteWe probably need to get a new mattress before too long as well, I didn't think of that one.
Several women at my church are part of BSF. I haven't joined yet but may try it in the future.
Hi BP - nice to meet you! Mattresses are expensive. I think what is stopping us is we have a beloved cat that would tear the side of the mattress to shreds. We are going to have to figure out a wave to encase it in bubble wrap!
DeleteBSF is awesome of course I am partial. Next year we will be studying OT - The people of the Promise. They go back and forth every year.
God bless and thanks for stopping by.
Regarding the third one. Even if you don't trust folks you can opt to trust yourself that you'll be okay. Based on the short time I've read your blog, I actually feel you are more an open book than closed.
ReplyDeleteFunny you say that - Since I don’t give out personal info I can be open on my blog, to some degree. It’s like therapy because in real life I don’t open up. Plus since I am not a chatty person, it’s hard for me to get a word in edgewise. Blogging, I don’t have that issue! 😆
