Tuesday Four - The Windy Month

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we try to have fun answering questions about various subjects.

March, they say, comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. It is called the windy month, just as Chicago is called the windy city!

 1. Has March come in like a lion or a lamb in your neck of the woods?

It came in like a lamb - 🐑 We were enjoying warm temperatures in the 80s, but then we suddenly shifted back to our usual rainy winter weather. On Sunday, we experienced some really strong winds. It’s still uncertain whether we’ll go out as a Lion. 🦁 or a Lamb.🐑

 2. There have been some awful storms of late.. have you suffered through them or have you ever suffered through a very bad storm in your life? (if so we wish you well)

We're experiencing our usual winter rains here in California. We've seen heavy storms that have led to some flooding and mudslides. Although it can be challenging, it's really just a regular part of our winter weather that we've dealt with before.

 3. Spring begins March 20th and ends with summer on June 20th this year. Any plans for Spring in general? How about the spring holidays?

Does cleaning, gardening and yard work count?

 4. What are your favorite springtime flowers? Trees or shrubs?

From last year -

California poppies are my absolute favorite during this season. Their vibrant orange and golden hues brighten up the landscape like drops of Spring sunshine and their petals unfurl gracefully in the warm spring breeze, creating a stunning contrast against the  greenery. Seeing them in full bloom always fills me with joy and a sense of wonder at nature’s beauty.

How about a song with a springtime theme to it that you enjoy?

"Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley is a joyous, uplifting anthem that fills me with a sense of carefree bliss and reminds me to embrace the simple joys of spring.

  1. March weather is always volatile here in Georgia. Temps can vary greatly, storms are more likely and we have to stay tuned to the weather to even know how to dress for the day. I do love that photo of the poppies, Debby. My favorite spring time flower are daffodils. Blessings!

    1. I know daffodils are a spring flower but here they start blooming late January/ early Sept. They are already spent for this year and it’s not even Spring yet. I’d prefer them to bloom in the spring.
I’m learning that all the volatile weather you all get back there is what ushers in tornadoes. The warm and cold air. Interesting.

  2. Oh goodness...I sure wish we were able to grow those California poppies around here. I saw some while we were visiting our grandson and family last year. they are truly gorgeous. I would say our March has come in like a lion. Still having strong winds today. I know your rainy season is great for all the produce, flowers and fruit that is grown in you area. God always knows what we have need of and He provides. Hope your day is as Sunny as what it is here in East Texas...

    1. Yes we’re enjoying a sunny but cold day at 57. It’s nice in the sun with a jacket.

    1. I’m hoping we go out like a lamb - same way we came in. Hmm, I wonder what that means?

  7. Tulips are my favorite spring flower.
Hoping March goes out like a lamb since it came in like a lion.

  8. Of course yard work counts! It better, as that's my least favorite task in the history of ever. I'd not heard this song in so long, yet it still lifts my spirits!

  9. Your photo of the Poppies is gorgeous! Here, we have the large cultivated poppies, but not the pretty wild ones.

  11. Those poppies are so pretty. I didn't realize you get a lot of rain in Northern California at this time of year. We get a lot of rain where I live too. I have similar plans to yours for my spring and probably a good part of the summer though I hope to also have some guests and spend some time being a tourist in my own city. I love your song selection. Bob Marley is one of my favs. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.

  12. I've never heard that song before, so I had to listen. I never heard any of Bob Marley music before. I liked the song...really unique and like you said, light hearted. Thanks for sharing. Those Californina poppies are really pretty. Do they grow wild there? So lovely! Happy Spring time!
