Through the Lens - The Lost Coast

Golden hues spill across the horizon as the sun sets over the remote expanse of the Lost Coast. I can almost hear the waves gently lapping at the rugged shoreline, their rhythmic embrace punctuated by the distant calls of seagulls settling in for the night. As the thick fog lingers just off the coastline, it patiently waits for the right time to envelop the land in its cool, mysterious embrace.

This resembles a scene straight out of Survivor, where the elements of nature clash dramatically with the human spirit's resilience.

Did you notice the small opening nestled in the top right corner of this photo?

It seems to invite a closer look, sparking curiosity about what lies beyond. A winding trail meanders gracefully down to the beach, flanked by lush greenery and the soothing sound of waves crashing in the distance.

As they journeyed toward the ocean, they meandered through a tapestry of lush valleys and sprawling meadows, each step revealing wildflowers dancing in the gentle salty breeze.

Enjoy your weekend. Its so windy here today. Everything is getting so dry.
Son Steve has done some photo workshops on the lost coast. So dramatic.
I love that little peephole looking out to the water.

  14. That first photo is so pretty. I was wondering if your son took these in in 3d images, as they are longer. Sounds like a wonderful time, and being close to nature is such a grand thing. Have a sweet Sunday.

  15. How marvelous. My husband and I took a turn off the main road last Saturday. We were amazed at what we found down a gravel road! A river and cliffs. So pretty.

  16. Debby, that is awesome that Theodore Roosevelt described the Falls as the eighth wonder of the world. Thanks for sharing that. I can see why he did. It puzzles me why I don't visit more often, they are amazing. I do hope you and your husband can visit in the summertime. But I wanted to tell you Spring is such a pretty time there, and it wasn't crowded at all. Summertime gets more crowded because of the tourists. The weather was really nice. I took a sweater just in case it was chilly, but I didn't need it. Sunshine and blue skies the whole time. The store there is quaint too. They even sell sandwiches now, but I got my food from Safeway deli before. ; )

    1. We'll go up there sometime in June. We always go mid-week and there are very few people, although this year might be more, since it was closed off to the public last year. I'm waiting for Lassen to open up - the roads are still closed from the snow. It should be soon. I enjoy driving through once a year in the summer when the roads are open.
