Uncle!

The phrase "say, uncle" is a widely recognized expression in North America that signifies admitting defeat, surrendering, or giving up. It is often invoked in contexts where an individual is losing in a competition, argument, or physical struggle. When someone exclaims "Uncle!", it indicates their readiness to cease the effort and concede.

Okay, okay I tried to stick to that "blog hiatus," but life just had other plans, and I felt the urge to share! I'd be in the shower, and all these blog ideas kept bubbling up in my mind. Just when I thought I could take a break, a wave of inspiration hit me. I'd say:

I had so much to do, but the ideas just kept coming. After yesterday, I realized it was a losing battle—I truly need to blog for my own peace of mind!

So, instead of writing one super-long post, I’ve decided to break things down into smaller, more manageable pieces over the next few days. Once I start unloading my brain,  I might lose those sparks of inspiration again. Those are the risks!

Have you ever tried to take a break from blogging and found it impossible?

Honestly, I think I’d have to be completely off the grid in places like Papua New Guinea, Lapland, or Mongolia to really pull off a complete hiatus!

I really missed these relaxing afternoon moments to write a little something to you all. It's currently 3:34 p.m., and what a gorgeous sunny day it is at 85 degrees! It's been a bit windy in the mornings lately, which has made it messy to paint outside, so we stopped.

Tomorrow marks the final day of BSF, a time cherished as "Sharing Day." It’s a beautiful opportunity for the ladies to express how profoundly God has enriched their lives this year through the study of Revelation. An hour filled with emotions and testimonies of transformation among these young women, moms, and the Titus women.

I feel a deep sense of emotion. This year has been a blessing as I’ve embraced leadership and connected with remarkable women who are strong in their faith.

Over the past year, Revelation has reinforced my faith, reminding me of our victory in Christ, His promised return, and the hope available in life’s challenges. It inspired a more profound commitment to biblical worship and enriched my relationship with God. The messages to the seven churches motivate me to persevere in faith, recognize the false churches that serve a different Jesus, and know God rewards endurance for keeping the faith!

Until tomorrow,

Debby

PS. Just a few of my flowers

blooming in my yard today

    1. That’s awesome Susan that your Pastor will be teaching it. Seems most Pastors do and I think that is so wrong. Rev 1;3 says there are blessings when you read it aloud.

  4. I'm so glad you are back! I keep seeing you commenting on blogs, and was wondering why you weren't writing too! I know, once we get the urge to write something, it is difficult to just put it away and not share it! I think it is a blessing that God has given us, this outlet to share our hearts and faith and love with others. Telling our story...and you've got something tell! I love that you were able to do the book of Revelation this year. I can imagine it was life changing for many. Thank you for being faithful to what God gave you to do! Love these flowers, btw. You have a lovely lovely garden!!! Welcome back!!!

    1. I wanted to be in the “know.”
Yeah I really need to blog and get all the things that are inside me, out. If I don’t, I mumble to myself and at our age, that can be dangerous!

  5. Love all the flowers, and the pink colors are so beautiful! Yes, it's hard to stay "off grid" and that is why we enjoy a few of our destinations we getaway to each year. One, is completely off grid (not even cell service). I haven't had much to blog about, as it seems like repeat posts, but yes, some days ideas pop up in my head. I can say, that I do not go on social media as much as I did in the past year. I find it a negative influence, so I search for patterns, recipes, and how-to's otherwise. I really don't need the events either. Enjoy!

    1. I always enjoy what you share. I haven’t been on Facebook since. 2020 because it takes up too much of my time and the negativity. Blogging is a great outlet for writing and creativity.

  8. Well, I think this is the best way to write posts, with pieces of fragments, as you said, because it's not too long winded for you or the reader. Honestly, I can't read a post if it's that long, but that's just me. Also, if you were getting blog burn out before, you might want to write a post once a week or every couple days. I used to write posts three times a week, and it just got to be too much, so now it's once a week. I so remember that phrase, "say uncle!" What a funny picture that is. Your flowers to go along with your words are so pretty. And I'm sure you can guess my favorite. Your red roses are coming along nicely.....but those pink roses are beauties too. Enjoy your warm weather, Debby. It's been sunny here this week too, just like a Spring day. Glad that you returned to the blog scene, and I look forward to hearing the happenings of your days, especially this summer, when it gets so hot there and up here as well. ; )

    1. I try not to go too long with posts and while I do enjoy sharing my photos usually I will share them throughout instead on one LONG post.
It wasn’t so much blog burnout, more that I have so much to do and catch up on before Sept.
It’s officially summer - the AC just kicked on - and my husband brought in one of the box fans we also use. One can never have too many fans in the summer. The 🥵 hot weather will soon be here.

  9. Your flowers are so lovely, Debby! Yes, I've taken breaks from blogging, especially when we have family visiting, but it's all good as they provide more opportunities for future blogs. Blessings!

I love my flowers and since they are perennials I don’t have to anything. They just bloom. Easy peasy gardening!

  10. Yay... I am so glad you are coming back to blogging (early). I love the things you post and as long as it doesn't become your Taskmaster, keep sharing the things the Lord brings to your mind.
I know your last day today of BSF will be awesome and that the Teen Challenge yard work tomorrow will be enough "fodder" for several blogs. When you don't feel like sharing ... Don't ...
I find that my blog is therapy for me and I share things I would never put on FB. I love this outlet and have done it since about 2005. I have needed lots of therapy...
