Resilient Flowers Bloom in spite of the Wind
This morning, I observed that the wind we had this weekend had knocked down my flag banner on the back patio, tossed some pillows around, and a rug.
Interestingly, some varieties of flowers show remarkable resilience against harsh weather conditions, while others tend to be more delicate. The wind moved pillows around, but couldn't stop the flowers from blooming.
I'm imagining...
The wind howled with relentless force this weekend, whipping through the garden. The delicate roses seemed to cower at the wind; their gentle petals trembling in the chaos. Yet, amidst the turbulent symphony of the wind gusts, the daylilies stood their ground - their vibrant blooms unfurling with grace and elegance.
In a display of resilience, the agapanthus plants observed the tall lilies and chose to unite in their stance against the wind...
So, they decided to bloom as well.
The blooming of flowers despite the wind reminds me of the peace and stability I have in Christ and the unity we have with other believers.
Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that in this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart because He has overcome the world. This assurance allows us to face life's challenges with confidence, knowing that we are rooted in Him. Of course, being human means we can still experience fear in certain situations. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. This means that while fear may arise, we have the power through the Holy Spirit to overcome it and act in faith.
I'm not entirely sure what caused their delay—perhaps today they'll finally reveal themselves. It’s possible they’re just a bit shy, hesitant to step into the spotlight.
I can relate to that.
What a lovely color. It's such a shame that these vibrant flowers don’t come into bloom until later in the year, as their beauty would surely brighten the days of October.

I relocated the little table and chairs to the back, under our bedroom window. There's still work to do, like painting the window trim. The slight slant is from the uneven ground caused by rocks, but I’ll reinforce it soon. I love having cozy sitting areas in the yard, and this spot enjoys shade most of the day.
Thank you for your kind words about my husband. He's energetic due to his ADHD but faces health challenges like a sluggish heart chamber, for which he takes effective medication. Despite arthritis and issues stemming from his military service, he stays healthy with supportive VA care and continues to perform his morning push-ups.
It’s currently 90 degrees and expected to hit 93 later, which is normal for us. We're just now putzing around the house until dinner.
I sincerely hope that your day has been filled with joy and that you take the time to savor a wonderful summer evening ahead.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16;33

It's been really windy here too.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful! It's amazing how some of them bloom in such crazy conditions. Your table and chairs looks good outside your window.
Sorry about all the wind, I never liked the wind always makes me nervous. Your flowers are so lovely thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteHey, Debby! I remembered to click on my reading list and was happy to see your post. Love all your pretty flowers! I vacationed up your way in 1984 and loved the area!
ReplyDeletePrayers for your husband....I'm going to do some catch up reading here to see what all I've missed!
Bend with the wind. Do not resist it and all will be well.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely and re-assuring quote at the end.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely flowers, vibrant colours.
God bless always.
We had a tornado sighting not far from us, just about a week before our current heat wave. I was shocked to see all of my tomato stakes still standing. Beautiful flowers. I agree on the orange flowers. We too have some. I have pulled a lounge chair from storage, and will be scrubbing it off for a reading chairs this summer. I am hoping it can still be used (it was in storage for years). I was so busy yesterday, I am embarrassed to say I did not "seek" joy per say. I will be looking for it today.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful. We have both wind and hail that tries to destroy all the grows around here.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Day Lilies and yours are both durable and beautiful, Debby. I so loved your Biblical analogy, too. With God by our side, we can face all fears that may come. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful testimony, these blooms! Their resiliency is a lesson to us all. I'm chuckling at the idea of my hubby doing push-ups -- not happening. Nevertheless, the VA has been a Godsend. They've been pretty wonderful for Tom these last 7 years.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great reminder to "Seek Joy". Though I so loved our family time last week, I could feel myself wanting to spiral downward. I am again going to Seek Joy...
ReplyDeleteIts strange how the emotions can fluctuate in the midst of happiness.
Love your quiet spots in your yard and all the gorgeous flowers blooming. We have 1 solitary agapanthus blooming in our front yard. Its happy to have the Blue Spruce gone and some breathing room.

it is amazing how the wind can blow one thing down or away and leave another.. I am not fond of high wind, 15 to 20 I can take, higher is a no for me.. of course the wind does what it wants and when. drought destroyed our yard and now that we cant take care of it, the rain is causing havoc because the jungle needs to be cut back and we can't
ReplyDeleteYour daylilies are beautiful, as all your other blooms. I have a small section of them in my flower bed close to the porch. I enjoy them when the weather is nice enough to be in my swing. Always trusting HIM on my life journey☺♥ PS....it's hot here too!!
ReplyDeleteRight now I would love to have a small seating area that's shaded much of the day. Our deck faces west, and receives direct sunlight all afternoon.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how resilient some plants are
ReplyDeleteThat color of the flower is striking, and it reminds me the Fall season. We didn't get much wind here, only chilly mornings. I hope the July days ahead are pleasant ones, Debby. I enjoy visiting your posts - you share interesting things about an area I'm familiar with. ; )
