Sully the Cat
Our neighbor's cat, Sully, has gone missing. Carrie sent me a message asking if we could help look for him. Sully is 9 years old and is very much loved by his family. When Mark drove up (Carrie's husband), my husband mentioned that we’d keep an eye out for Sully. However, Mark reacted by saying he didn't really care about finding him and then walked away.
Mark is a generally good neighbor, but like many of us, he has his emotional ups and downs. About ten minutes after this, the doorbell rang, and there was Mark at the door. He expressed his regret for being rude and having a bad attitude earlier. It turns out that he’s very worried about his cat, Sully, and on top of that, today is the day they have to say goodbye to their pug, which is very hard for him. It's a tough situation for anyone.
We've all had moments where we've acted out of frustration or hurt and been difficult in our interactions with others. We shouldn't be defined by these moments - and the same goes with Mark.
As someone who loves animals, I truly sympathize with my neighbors. Dealing with these kinds of issues can be tough. We've had to make the difficult decision to help some of our older pets pass away, and we’ve sadly lost two cats to coyotes, so we can relate to their pain. It's definitely sad.
If Susie ever got out, I would freak out!

Sully looks so much like our beloved Simba, who we lost not too long ago. Please let me know if they find him!!! Simba got out once, in an ice storm! We were so worried. But after a day, he came to the back door meowing, at exactly his dinner time.
ReplyDeleteI'm not bothering them today because they are grieving their dog, but I will make contact tomorrow.
DeleteThanks for sharing this. I was thinking Mark was a jerk and then realized there is often more than meets the eye. Good reminder!
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband came back and told me, we were confounded as to why he had said that. Then the doorbell rang...
DeleteOH, I do hope they can find Sully...perhaps he couldn't deal with what was happening with their dog, and he just had to slip away for a while, but he will be back. Who knows how our animals really feel and react to times of sorrow or stress? They deal with it their way, and sometimes that might mean disappearing for a little while. Yes, we all react to times of grief or uncertainty in different ways. Oftentimes we'd rather not face it or deal with it, but deep inside we know we will have to inevitably. I'm sorry for your neighbors and their current sorrow. I do hope there will be a happy ending for Sully. And yes, I think we are all reeling inside about the tragedy in Texas. It's been very hard to even watch the news. My heart breaks for those families who have lost their precious daughters. You and I both know how difficult it has been to lose a precious son, even though we knew they had health issues, etc., but to have a little girl swept away in a flood of waters is just too much to fathom. I've appreciated a picture on Facebook that is floating around of the little girls running through the water and leaping into Jesus' open arms, and He is smiling and welcoming them "home". I am clinging to that picture in my mind and it helps ease the sadness. (((hugs))) for all who are experiencing grief in one way or another tonight.
ReplyDeleteDebby, your post hit home for me, as Nel's cat, Luca, just died from a Coyote. I didn't realize you lost two of your cats that way. The mountains surround her neighborhood, and the neighbors have lost their dear cats to these Coyotes. People have been hurt from them also. It's so sad. I hope your neighbor finds their cat, and Susie must be an indoor cat, cause once a cat explores the outdoors, they become outside cats, and even get anxiety staying inside. Did you take these pictures? I'm not a cat person, but they sure are cute. Speaking of cats, a neighborhood cat had her kittens, and I saw about five of them under my tree on my lawn. It was so foreign to me, as I've had dogs all my life. ; )

I saw a beautiful red-tailed fox run across the road yesterday. I've not seen them here before. We have coyotes, and word in the neighborhood is that a mountain lion den is nearby, and many have seen them on their webcams. Susie is strictly an indoor cat. That is why I would freak out.
DeleteThe photos are of Sully that Carrie posted on the Nextdoor app. He's a beautiful cat.
Sure hope Sully turns up. A good reminder that we shouldn't judge others because we don't know the whole story!
ReplyDeleteI liked your air fryer so much I bought one. Ordered it Sunday and it showed up today already!! :)
Nice! I have to wait till they get their new stove/oven before I get their hand-me-down.
DeleteWe need to reach out more I think to those who need our love. I do hope the neighbours manage to get through the loss of their pug, and that Sully finds their way home. I am also praying for those who have been lost in Texas.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We really do - those that are unlovable need our love the most!
DeleteOh, I hope and pray sweet Sully is found, Debby! And yes, we never know what kind of day a person might be having, so we should never rush to judgement. Great reminder to treat others as we would like to be treated, just as Jesus taught. Continuing to pray for all those grieving families in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI hope Sully returns home soon. After losing their dog today, it would be a blessing for them during this time.
DeleteHow hard it must be to lose two pets at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThat the neighbor came back and apologized for for his remarks says a lot about his character. Hopefully Sully makes her way home safe and soon.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbour's reaction was understandable. Sometimes, it's just too much to take on another worry, but it passes, as it did with him.
ReplyDeleteI hope by the time you see this, Sully's returned home. That his 'pawrents' hearts will find comfort in focusing on happy times with their pug. Still praying for all those affected by the Texas tragedy.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, two pets in one day. Hope the cat comes back. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the kitty is found. So sad. Very hard to lose a dog and then your cat goes missing. Janice
ReplyDeleteMy son's family lost their cat for a while - they did find him - but until they did, they were devastated.
ReplyDeleteLet us know if you find it.
Came back to see if the cat was found?
ReplyDeleteWhen a beloved pet wonders off it is stressful as stressful as having to put a beloved pet to sleep.
