A birdbath, and Advanced Stealth Technology Toilets
While driving through my neighborhood, I found an unfinished spray-painted pot with a $59.99 Hobby Lobby sticker. The man outside said it was free and even offered me the leftover spray paint!
I knew exactly what I would use it for. As a base pedestal to my cement birdbath that was given to me by the wife of a very good friend of mine, Dominic, after he died from an overdose. The pedestal broke off a couple of years ago, during a storm. So it's been sitting on whatever we could find -
The base has some paint splotches that need to be fixed. I’m not in a rush, but to match the birdbath to the pedestal, I might use textured spray paint or mix watered-down cement with dirt for an aged look. It will need time to achieve the desired appearance. I am one who will have to look at it and ponder...
Got any suggestions???
The moment my husband placed the heavy birdbath on the base I was delighted to see a dove and a few other lovely birds enjoying a bath, splashing around. They don't care what the base pedestal looks like! I’ll be patient and wait until they’re finished before I clean it out. It’s such a joy to watch nature up close in our own little space!
I tried using the textured gray spray paint on the top thingy of the birdbath, and I have some regrets now about doing that.
I always get such a thrill from mixing unique finds and second-hand treasures! A quirky home feels so inviting, and my yard tells its own stories. Each corner and flower adds history and character, creating a cozy atmosphere that store-bought decor can't replicate (though I do have a soft spot for Hobby Lobby!)
If the birds like it, then I'm good.
August 19 will be the last 8 pm sunset for our area...
So Fall is coming…🍁

We are looking for a new toilet, and are going to look for the tennis balls one!!! I love the pedestal you found, the shape is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh funny, Ginny! I'm leaning toward the self cleaning one.
DeleteOh, what a wonderful find. I love the way the birdbath looks and am glad the birds are enjoying it. Hmmm, a quiet flush would be lovely in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It just touches my heart to see them there. Last night we sat out and watched this one bird flutter around for a good 10 minutes. It was cute.
DeleteThat was a great find! I think it looks so good, and the birds are happy too.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking a self cleaning toilet would be a grand thing. :)
What a great find! Our sunset tonight was at 7:55.
ReplyDeleteMy husband, Danny, has had Toto brand toilets installed in both bathrooms and they have certainly been reliable for us. Always wonderful, too, when you can find things to repurpose in your yard. If the birds enjoy it, all the more beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debby!
What a neat find. 👌 I love ❤️ the birdbath.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the self-cleaning house . . .
ReplyDeleteI love the birds loved the water - so cool. Interesting about the toilets!
ReplyDeleteLove the bird bath and Free was certainly the right price.
ReplyDeleteLove that you repurpose things and make them your own.
Praying for the SSA visit.

A self cleaning toilet... I also agree with jabblog... a self cleaning house!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe bird bath looks good, I have never shopped for a toilet
ReplyDeleteWe need to replace (at least) one of our toilets, but I've been procrastinating something awful. 7+ years ago when we were selling our (Arizona) home it was all Tom could do to lift and lug. Those whizz-bang new ones sound mighty tempting.
ReplyDeleteI love your birdbath...and I love that your feathered friends enjoyed it right away. We have a birdfeeder (and a birdbath) but don't seem able to entice too many birds. Not sure why...we really are friendly:)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely. We used an old toilet in the back patio once. we had to think about all the plumbing ( none in and none out).
