A Calming Hodgepodge
2. Tell us about a favorite food-related memory.
If I had a favorite, it looks like I have already forgotten it.
3. What are some things you find remarkably peaceful or calming?
a lovely shower, a massage by my husband, and then going to bed in clean, beautifully fragrant sheets. 💕
4. Is there something you do now that gets you just as excited as it did when you were a child?
I've enjoyed revisiting old childhood spots with my husband! I successfully pointed out the exact campsite at Trinity Lake where I learned to water ski 62 years ago. It felt surreal to be back there - and it really hadn't changed much. Although my birth family is no longer with me, I love to look back fondly at those precious memories of us as a young family in those simpler times.
5. To what degree are you in touch with friends from grade school? High school? College, if you attended college?
Zero.
“People always come into your life for a reason, a season and a lifetime.”
I kept in touch with a few - sadly every single one has passed away decades ago due to addiction, auto accidents and suicides.
6. Insert your own random thought here.

I hate standing in line as well. Also I have no school friends nor have I gone to any class reunions. I dont even see my previous co-workers from my past job anymore. Am happy to just stay home nowadays when I can. Janice
ReplyDeleteI’m with you Janice. I’m no longer who I used to be and have nothing in common with my HS classmates.
DeleteI love your random thought at the end. Thank you so much for that.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thanks Victor!
DeleteJust reading the peaceful, calming answer was peaceful to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful to still get together with friends from high school. We meet for breakfast every 4-5 weeks.
That’s nice Mari.
DeleteI had to leave HS schoolmates behind to start over. It was a step in the right direction for me.
The only thing I can think is worth standing in line for is a public toilet when the 'need' arises. My former school chums are few; we're no longer the same people ... and that's okay!
ReplyDeleteI do everything in my power to not use public restrooms. Yeah there are those “times” but I hate it because I just don’t like public restrooms. Yuck. 🤢
DeleteThis was a cute hodgepodge this week. Glad that I decided to join in on the Wednesday fun. Happy Wednesday Debby..
ReplyDeleteYou too Shug.
DeleteI would stand in line for food if I were starving, but not to eat in a resutrants.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t even think down that line.
DeleteI LOVE your random!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE fresh sheets. :-)
I have stood in line for good eats. And I had to stand in line to enter our son's graduation from Basic Training. It was a crazy time standing in that line, so many people in a tight place.
I was just commenting about the military idiom “hurry up and wait” I could have put my thought in my answers but I kept drawing a blank. Maybe I should do it in Sunday and then I could ponder my answers. Now I’m thinking of food memories and yes, when I was waiting for hours for my son’s air craft carrier to come home after being deployed to the Persian gulf. It was hours and I was by myself but it didn’t matter because, my boy would finally be on US soil again.
DeleteDitto Victor on your random thought, Debby. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha
DeleteI truly hate standing in line but I think I have to go with Mevely317's answers.
ReplyDeleteSure have stood in line for the restroom and former friends from high school...I can name only 2. The rest are either passed or we are no longer the same people that we were back then. I really have no desire to go to reunions.
I guess my food related fond memory would be our 60th anniversary with the "kids". The best food all weekend. All our favorites ... making memories.
Sue
When I go out, I’m out early and not many lines do I have to stand in. Grocery lines are part of life so I people watch or see what others have in their carts.
DeleteSo true about old friends, be it from school or work -we’re all just not the same people any more and have moved on.
I feel peaceful and calm reading your answers.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, well good. We all need some calm in our days.
DeleteA nice massage from my husband. That sounds amazing!! So glad you are enjoying the childhood spots. Sounds like fun. Enjoy!!:)
ReplyDeleteThey’re calming and free
DeleteOh my gosh, I loved number 1. Isn't a hot shower just the best after a long day? It's nice that you revisit old childhood spots, Debby. I often do the same when I visit my hometown. I always wanted to water ski, but never learned. I'm so sorry some of your childhood friends had such tragic lives. Your words are special, "people always come into your life," and I think that's true. And I absolutely LOVED that last photo. Thank you for sharing that. I enjoyed your hodgepodge today, Debby. Oh, and what a good idea to highlight the font. It made it much easier to read!

As for my friends who passed, “There but for the grace of God go I.” The older I get the more I think of them. Very sad.
DeleteCan't say I love standing in line either. I do like massages. I do read. Love the last line in your post. Visit books but live in the bible!
ReplyDeleteI do everything as soon as the stores open up so I don’t have to stand in lines.
DeleteI've enjoyed reconnecting with some grade school friends via Facebook, and then in person as a result. Our neighborhood was very close knit and it's been fun to see us pick up again easily. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteWe were all bad influences on each other and so I had to cut relationships if I want to walk the straight and narrow. I did notice, on Facebook none had changed - Sad.
DeleteLove number 6!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not still in touch with school friends either. I imagine s many of them would be dead now. When I return to childhood places, I find them so much smaller that I remembered!
ReplyDeleteI remember my mom kept in touch with two of her HS girlfriends.
DeleteI only stood in line once and that was when Cabbage Patch dolls were the thing. Our daughter wanted one so bad... Really even though I stood in line the owners of the shop had put one away for me. They lived across the road from us and knew how much Krista wanted one.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Aww that is sweet.
DeleteA shower always relaxes me! It’s the first thing I do when I get home from work and sets the tone for my evening.
ReplyDeleteI'm a morning shower person, but when the stresses of the day get to me, I take a nice warm shower. Baths are good too.
DeleteCamping, and dinner around a fall, cool night campfire is very relaxing. Lots of ways to relax these days, and like you said a nice shower.
ReplyDeleteI am a quiet-natured person, so anything that feeds that is peaceful to me.
DeleteMy family moved so many times in my childhood that I have no contact with the friendships made then. But I do have several friendships from church college youth group.
ReplyDeleteThat is like my husband - he does keep in touch with a couple of buddies from his time in the service. I still keep in touch with many of my church friends. They were and have been the best friends ever.
DeleteSometimes when I go to estate sales there is a line out the door. I usually leave because as much as I love estate sales there is nothing inside I want or need enough to stand in a line for!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't either.
DeleteThe best answer I read today was the restroom. Love your answer for #3. That was great to show your husband all those places. Sorry to hear about your friends from school. Love your random.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was sad, but some people don't want to change their ways.
ReplyDeleteI liked your answers
