Proclaiming God's Word
Wow, it's mid-week already.
So I just finished the 2nd week of BSF. There are 28 more lessons to go! We have 300 ladies registered, and we have at least 150 young children and homeschoolers. This year, we were unable to secure volunteers for our high schoolers, resulting in no high school group, which is disappointing since 15 high school students had signed up. I find this heartbreaking.
"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Matthew 9:35-38
I thought of this verse when I discovered that no one was ready to volunteer to teach the high school students, which led us to send them away. Fifteen young individuals! Therefore, my prayer is that we can find someone who will rise to the occasion and invest in these young people's hearts.

Since the school year began, my husband has set up a "Friends of Israel" info table at the college, where he's generally welcomed and recognized by students. They come up and ask for prayer, request to blow the Shofar, inquire about the material, and engage in cordial discussion. A few individuals have expressed differing opinions, but he can handle it. After last week’s events, we discussed it, and he's determined to stand firm without fear. I'm so proud of him for embodying the true meaning of "pick up your cross and follow me" in a rebellious world.
This week’s lesson focused on Ezekiel 2:3-10, in which God appointed him to deliver His message to the Israelites:
"Do not be afraid of them or their words. Even though briers and thorns surround you and you live among scorpions, do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, for they are a rebellious people."
This commission is for every one of us.
We cannot let fear dictate our actions -
We, as bearers of His name, have also been summoned by God, and this came with a price.
The call to share God's love and truth is a lifelong journey. (We don't get to retire until God calls us home). Empowered by the Holy Spirit within us, believers are invited to participate in God's work throughout our lives, allowing Christ to live through us and impact those around us.

I am so sorry that no one stepped forward to teach the high school students.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I believe many are intimidated by that age group. It doesn’t help take someone specially geared for high schoolers.
DeleteHi Debby.
ReplyDeleteI love that Scripture about the harvest being great, but the workers few. So true, isn't it? I hope the rest of the week is super for you, dear Debby. Susan
Sadly it is very true. I hope you enjoy what’s left of this week and onto the weekend. Thanks so much, Susan for stopping by! ❤️
DeleteI do hope you will find time in your busy week to visit my blog, Debby, as my focus is on Charlie Kirk's courage in his faith. I'm proud of your husband, too, for not being cowed in proclaiming the truth boldly and in love. Nothing is better than being servants for Jesus in every way. Hope that God will send special people to your ministry just for the teens that left disappointed. God bless them!
ReplyDeleteI hope you got my message on your blog. It was a beautiful tribute for Charlie Kirk, Martha. I hope everyone reads it!
DeleteBlessings for the rest of the week.
That is great that your husband has a table with information about Israel. Our church group has really grown. My granddaughter loves going and she also sings on the youth praise team and big church too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it’s his second year doing this. He used to have a partner but he hasn’t showed up so my husband does it alone. But he is bathed in prayer. 🙏🏻
DeleteYour granddaughter, Susan is incredible. God has big plans for her.
WOW!!! What a great post, thank you for sharing. Wishing you a lovely day my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Keep standing firm!
DeleteSo proud of your husband for fighting against any fear that the devil is spreading. The Great Commission wan't given to a select few, but to all who follow Christ. God equips each of us differently, but the mission is the same...to let the light of Christ Shine in this very darkened world. Good post Debby...hope your Thursday is Sunny and Bright.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Shug. It’s a very dark world out there. As it says in Psalms “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” We need to keep that path lit up for His Word.
DeleteI think it's so great that your husband is doing this. That's God given courage in these times and I'm happy to see more people being brave in their faith.
ReplyDeleteYes it is God-given courage. It would be nice to see more of it. Perhaps we will.
DeleteThe last meme really hit home with me today.
ReplyDeleteIt hit me as well.!
DeleteHow timely ... your Ezekiel verses are so spot on. I haven't read that book in a very long time. Got out my bible and just read that chapter. Such a challenge for our day too. What a "mission" your husband is experiencing every time he is at the college. Prayers continuing.
ReplyDeletePraying that someone will step up for the high schoolers. Soften hearts and encouraging willingness. That age can be difficult but those teens wanted to be there. God will supply.
Sue
Hi Sue. Yes that age can be difficult and many are intimidated perhaps. The admin are not giving up. Lord willing by the first of the year maybe someone will step into. 🙏🏻
DeleteI'm glad your husband put up that table for Israel too. I love that Scripture about the harvest being great, but the workers few. So true, isn't it? Volunteering at church is one example.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Every church I’ve ever been to, it seems the ministry that is the least served is the nursery or the toddlers. We have to do better.
DeleteGod Bless your husband for doing what he does!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. He’s richly covered in prayer.
DeleteJust want to say this was another damn good post
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne. 🌺
DeleteI am very sad that on one stepped up to lead the youth. I wish I was there. I would do it. Especially because they signed up and are hungry to learn, so it's not like they were being forced to be there against their will. I pray God will still raise someone up to do this. Thank you for your faithfulness to lead in this study. May God bless your efforts immensely. Praying for your hubby also, as he shares Christ for Israel. God is at work across our nation. His Spirit is moving in the hearts of many of all ages. Still makes me believe that His return is very soon. Amen. Love the picture of Laydee.
ReplyDeleteWell the admin gave a talk about this and I hope she touched some who were sitting there. They’re hoping for 2 to step up by the end of December or sooner, Lord willing.
DeleteHow disappointing for those 15 young men and women. Our community is actually facing a similar situation (Bible study elective at the middle school). I've no answers, but pray someone will feel led and step forward.
ReplyDeleteYour husband is certainly brave in his faith. Holding him and his colleagues in prayer for protection.
I’m really hoping someone will step up and soon.
DeleteOh, I really like that last verse. The harvest verse also spoke to me right away, as I appreciate each and every harvest season. What a sweet picture of Laydee sitting under the trees. I went to the city last week, and it was 97 degrees. So much fun.....but a hot one. I will do a post about it in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend, Debby.
