Before the rains
Before the rain arrived this weekend, I took a drive to the farm stand to check out what the farmer's wife had going on. She plans to present some soaps and additional products as Christmas gifts.
Apple scrap jelly is
a type of preserve made from the peels and cores of apples, which are boiled to create a flavored juice that is then sweetened with sugar, thickened with pectin (or natural pectin in the scraps), and often flavored with lemon juice. More eye candy
Harriet the cow
It was a Free Flower Friday, and she had arranged pumpkins in the shed -
I enjoyed the view from the sink.
I'd love to grab those "black cat pumpkins" which I've seen everywhere this Fall. They’re more of a very dark green, resembling black, but I really like their look.
There are many different varieties of black pumpkins -
Charming!
On Saturday morning, we woke to some rainfall—the first storm of the rainy season. We attended a craft fair at the Veterans Memorial Hall downtown, which was charming. My husband received a set of tile cup holders as a prize.
In a couple of weeks, this long-awaited public market will open in our downtown. I’m looking forward to the grocery store going in there - a few new restaurants, and some stores. There will also be live music on weekends.
My town has recently launched these fake trolley cars. They don’t compare to San Francisco’s cable cars, but they’re charming and provide a fun twist. Essentially, they’re just small buses designed to resemble trolleys, and they run on electricity. They plan to paint them – we currently have two operating around town, and the main goal is to promote the use of the bus system.
After a very stormy Saturday and Sunday with pretty much non-stop rain, today is sunny and drying out. We’re looking forward to a mild sunny week in the 70s to low 80s. But it drops down cold at night. I broke down and flipped the furnace on this morning to take the chill off. Darn it! I was trying so hard to hold out till Nov 1.
That's all I have this MONDAY - See you tomorrow on Tuesday, 4.
See you soon -
Debby

I had never heard of a black cat pumpkin. It gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYeah they are attractive pumpkins!
DeleteI would love to go to this place. she fixed it up so nice! And I really love the black/green pumpkins! I have never seen any before!! The trolley is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteThey want to paint them red, the last I heard.
DeleteWhat a cute idea to have some trolley cars in your city. I bet they would be fun to take a drive in. I see those black pumpkins around more and more each year.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I want to take a ride in them too. They ring a bell when they come to a bus stop. Really cute
DeleteGreat photos!!! Love the cow!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yeah Harriet has her own line of products.
DeleteI tried waiting until November for the heater as well, but up here it gets coooold in October. Those black pumpkins are so unusual. I've seen the greenish/grey ones, but not the black. I always enjoy seeing all the goodies at the farm stand. The farmer's wife is really creative putting things out. I really like that purple vase with the orange flowers. Somehow, they compliment each other. I noticed the Folger's coffee tin. You know, I still have Folgers to this day. It's either Starbucks or Folger's for me. I look forward to seeing what's new in Redding when I visit again. Love the orange highlighted font today. Hello Harriet the cow. You're so cute. Oh, and glad you got lots of rain Debby. It rained just slightly on Saturday, but a good rain on Sunday.

Strange - I just wrote a long comment back to you and it’s gone. I’ll answer again later.
DeleteThe farmers wife runs a charming stand. I'd love to visit it. I'd buy the black pumpkins too.
ReplyDeleteYour new market looks really nice. I love the trolleys too!
She is trying to offer other crafts so she can keep it open longer.
DeleteI'm with other folks here in that I've never heard of black pumpkins, Debby. Thanks for the info! Word is out that your governor could be throwing his hat into the ring for the 2028 Democrat nomination. What do you think? Just asking. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think that if he does and should he win, (God help us) the rest of the country will be governed like California. He’s arrogant and conceited and is not qualified to be a world leader.
DeleteThat would be a fun place to go. I'd like to visit. The black pumpkin is awesome. Love a trolley ride too.
ReplyDeleteYeah they’re fun to ride in. I prefer the open air trolley but this is good too.
DeleteOne of our friends use to run a gas powered trolley in her small town. It was a hit. Love the black pumpkins and Harriet looked sweet. Janice
ReplyDeleteHow fun. Yeah I hope to get a rude in it soon.
DeleteThis looks like MY kind of place. It almost looks like pure Country and you just can't beat country. I have always wanted to ride on one of those trolly cars...We do not have them around here, but they look like so much fun...
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of my Tennessee grandma’s place. Pure country as they were not rich but they had everything. I loved going there and it really made a lasting impression on me to this day.
DeleteEye candy ... exactly! I'd never heard of a black pumpkin before.
ReplyDeleteSince twitching my nose and travelling to faraway places (aka, Samantha on Bewitched) is out of the question, blogging's the next best thing!
Funny you mentioned Bewitched. It’s now playing on Amazon and we’ve been chuckling through some of the episodes that I haven’t seen since I was 10. It came out in 1964. Which Darren was your favorite? lol
DeleteIt sounds like you had a good weekend and enjoyed your adventures. The dark pumpkin is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYeah they are really nice
DeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful day to get out and about.
ReplyDeleteYes it was very fallish.
DeleteThe black cat pumpkin isn't something I have ever seen before
ReplyDeleteThey’re getting more popular as people are enjoying the different varieties of pumpkins.
DeleteI love that sink with the flowers and pumpkins and the view! I mostly love the sink! LOL. Would LOVE to have an old fashioned sink like that! Loved all the pictures. Looks like a picture perfect kind of fall day!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the view. Such a country place.
DeleteLOOOVE the pumpkins!!!!
ReplyDeleteMeeeeee, too!
DeleteOh I love Harriet! I have such a soft spot for cows:) And apple scrap jelly?? Now that is something new to me...but how resourceful to use the peels too!! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great town you live in, Debby! I have never heard of black cat pumpkins. It looks painted to me!
