But God...
Today, the weather has shifted to a cozy, fall-like feel - after a warm week, with AC use during the day and windows open after 9 pm. This fall feel is expected to continue for the next 10 days. We're also expecting some rain.
Thank You, God, for the rainy season!
I completely overlooked this - I need to remove it before the winter storms and winds arrive.
On Monday, Laydee had her surgical bandage removed and a check-up. Everything is healing well, and she now has a pink bandage at the tip, cuz she's a girl. She will return next Monday for another check and to have this bandage removed. She’s on her way to better health and a shorter but healthier wag!
The surgeon last night called to share that the biopsy was inconclusive, but he is very confident they removed the entire tumor/cyst. They removed 3 inches of her tail, leaving a significant portion intact.
Isn't he the cutest?
My son sent me a message about a tortoise named Cecil, who needs a new home. While I was tempted, I decided to stick with our two pets for now. I might consider it in the future since there's a nearby sanctuary always looking for families and homes. Cecil is great with kids and people and loves being petted. He's very friendly.
Earlier today, my husband returned to the college with his Friends of Israel materials, undeterred by last week’s events and well-supported by prayer.
He called earlier to let me know, one student even treated him to a slice of pizza. He's been warmly welcomed and acts as a grandfather figure to many, often praying with them for their exams and studies. The young man who visited last week, who threatened to bring a large crowd of friends, never showed up.
But God...
All three individuals have been identified. "S" is Suzie, the blonde woman who just turned 67 on September 25th. As a mother and grandmother, she actively serves the Lord, maintains a home, holds a career, and leads a ministry. Suzie is part of a medical missionary team that goes to Guatemala annually to help children with cleft lips and palates. She is beloved in our community, and many people worldwide are praying for her and her team!
The latest update I received from the two gals in my bible study who know her states that the pilot and EMT are in critical but stable condition, while Susie's condition is critical and unstable. She is in an induced coma due to a brain bleed and has multiple broken bones.
I’m clinging to Romans 8:28, trusting that in every situation, God is working for the benefit of those who love Him and are destined according to His plan.
In a negative world, I am observing numerous miracles during this tragic event...
1. The pilot managed to maneuver the helicopter in a way that ensured not a single person or car on the ground was harmed.
A miracle that many overlook and fail to recognize.
2. The helicopter didn't explode or catch on fire.
3. All three survived the crash. They haven't died yet...
4. The helicopter was resting on Susie, and people came to help lift the heavy helicopter off her. Those are not lightweight at all.
5. Nationwide coverage = more people praying for their well-being and for Suzie.
6. The strengthening of faith - the witness of a faithful servant of the Lord.
But God...
Despite the local news reporting that "Suzie's head injury is severe and the outlook appears grim" (HOW RUDE), I hold on to the belief that a "But God" moment is yet to come.
Genesis 50:20 : Joseph speaks to his brothers, saying, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
Psalm 73:26: "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." God’s unwavering power and faithfulness uplift us, even in our moments of weakness.
These "But God" moments in Scripture are profound reminders of God's intervention, grace, and transformative power in our lives.
There is so much good happening in a negative and hateful world, yet I see God moving in countless ways. But if God should take her home, He still deserves all the Glory for the incredible work He accomplished through her. His ways are not our ways.
Keep Praying!

Oh my, not good news. but she is still alive and there is hope! I had not heard any updates, so am glad to know this. Your hummingbird spinner is so cute!
ReplyDelete“ As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more."Psalm 71:14
DeleteI love those But, God moments. (My husband has a t-shirt with that written on it)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting rain and a little respite from the heat.
Cecil is so cute!
It’s a nice cool day! ❤️
DeleteI saw this on the news. God is a God of miracles!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteI hope the helicopter crew continue to recover. It's a worrying time for their families.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest daughter's Labrador had most of his tail removed in successive operations because it wouldn't heal. It depressed him greatly, so it's good to read that Laydee is making a good recovery.
Aww, Laydee is hanging in there but last night after I wrote this, she began exhibiting some anxiety and depression. She’s going into the vet this morning.
DeleteYes, make sure you bring that bird wind chime in, or it will get a real workout. I don't know why, but the pink tip of Laydee's bandage made me smile.
ReplyDelete🤩. Same here!
DeleteBut God, in Ephesians 4, I think. Gosh I remember it so well, there is a long story with this verse, but even when something horrible happens - God is still there.
ReplyDeleteYes He is!
DeletePraying for this crew, especially Suzy, for their comfort and healing. God is in control, and He alone knows what is best in all situations. Praying for all. Does sound quite miraculous that they survived at all! Is that tortoise a gopher tortoise? Does he tunnel in the ground? He looks like the kind who do that here. They are protected by law, and if they have a "colony" on a piece of property, one cannot build there unless the tortoises are relocated to a new approved location. I do hope he finds a good home. Glad Laydee is getting better and praying for complete healing. Have a wonderful rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteCecil is a Sulcata tortoise.
DeleteI'll keep Suzie and the entire helicopter crew in my prayers, Debby! God is still in the miracle business. May He perform one here and now for these wonderful folks. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes He is and each day they are still alive gives me such hope!
DeletePraying for this medical team. I saw this on our local news channel both yesterday and the day before. My SIL is working out in an area about 150 miles from you. He sent me a message yesterday that he had made (my chile recipe) for his team and they loved it. He said the weather is so nice....in the 70's!! Wish you all could send some to Texas.. Sweet Cecil..I do hope he gets a home soon...
ReplyDeleteIt feels so nice outside - very fallish!
DeleteIt was so amazing watching on tv all of the people rushing to the copter and physically raising it to get Suzy out from under it. The goodness of ordinary people helping. It warmed my heart. Prayers for all involved... But God ...
ReplyDeleteGlad your sweet Laydee is doing better from her " tail Bob". Hope the anxiety will get better.
Good news on your Hubby's time at the college. Prayer is a mighty tool.
Sue
She got her librela injection and already her anxiety has cleared. She’s back to being a happy camper. Poor sweetie. I hate seeing animals in pain.
DeletePraying now for a miracle for these three that are in such need.. Thankful no one on the ground was injured and praying they will all be healed and for the families and friends
ReplyDeleteYes it was a miracle! It could have been so much worse.
DeleteThanks for the update - will continue to pray.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Laydee is doing good.
Bless her heart - she’s definitely been through it.
DeleteWill continue to pray for them. Miracles happen every day. That tortoise is cute. Laydee sporting her pink bandage was also cute. Janice
ReplyDeleteCecil is a cutie for sure but after reading up, they get BIG.
DeleteThank you for these updates on Laydee ... and your hubby's outreach, too. (Thank you, God!) Cecil-the-tortoise is, dare I say, adorable? His expression, so determined.
ReplyDeleteStill praying for those 3 souls who survived the crash. But God, indeed!
I have lit a candle and prayed for all those involved in the crash. Cecil is so cute, but yes they do get very large.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
aahh, Laydee, I'm glad she's healing well, but that makes me sad she has to wear that bandage. Great photo your son took of the turtle. Keep us updated on the helicopter crash. I love that you highlighted all of this in Rose font. The story of Joseph and his brothers is very special to me. I love Joseph, and he endured so much. But God sees everything, and His plan is perfect. Your dangling hummingbird yard ornament is very cool.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Our weather has been nicer also. I'm glad that Ladyee is doing okay. I will continue to pray for her. I really love tortoises. So cute! I will continue to pray for all of them who were in the helicopter.
