The legends of Mt Shasta

This is Mt Shasta. 14,179 elevation

My son went on a solo backpacking trip last week and took this photo for me.

Those neat clouds are called Lenticular clouds. We call them  "spaceship" clouds because there are so many freaky myths and legends about Mt Shasta.

Join me as we learn about the mysterious Mt Shasta.

Legend has it that a hidden city known as the Telos exists deep within the depths of Mt. Shasta and is home to a highly advanced society. The residents are believed to be descendants of the ancient civilization of Lemuria. They are said to live in a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the mountain, adorned with shimmering jeweled walls and floors carpeted with furs. At times, these mystical beings are rumored to emerge from their subterranean home, clad in their distinctive white robes, to walk the surface world.

I know FREAKY!

Some of the old-timers around here believe this.

In recent times, there have been numerous reports of unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings in the vicinity of Mount Shasta. According to local lore, these sightings may be linked to the presence of lenticular clouds, which some believe are concealing immense Lemurian motherships that visit the fabled hidden city of Telos. Additionally, there have been numerous accounts of sightings of Bigfoot in the area, along with reports of encounters with interdimensional beings, thought to be connected to the enigmatic Ascended Masters.

Everywhere I go, I can see Shasta.

Here on the Shasta Dam on Lake Shasta.

Behold the breathtaking sight of Lake Shasta, its tranquil waters stretching out in full splendor, with the majestic silhouette of Mount Shasta looming in the background.

From a thrilling helicopter ride last year, there she was -

gradually coming into view.

We make an effort to journey up to the mountain and visit it at least two to three times a year.

According to local Native American beliefs, the mountain is believed to be the dwelling place of a spirit chief who descended from the heavens to the summit. There, the spirit chief engaged in a dramatic battle with another spirit chief from the underworld, who is said to reside in Mt. Mazama, a neighboring volcano in Oregon. The battle was portrayed as a conflict involving the hurling of hot rocks, symbolizing volcanic eruptions.

Because of these ancient legends, there are various religious new-age cults. On several occasions, we have witnessed these followers gathering at the mountain, joining hands to form a large circle.

Mt. Shasta seemed to be emitting billows of steam, creating the dramatic illusion of a volcanic eruption taking place.

It was just clouds.

I'm never disappointed when I go up to the mountain.

In the winter, it's a winter wonderland.

Are there any spooky myths and legends from your area?

What are they?

I took this photo just last week.

The majestic mountain has always been a significant part of our community, drawing in countless young individuals and adventurers from distant places. Whenever I gaze upon it, I'm filled with awe at the magnificent work of God's hands. I hope those who come seeking the beauty of this mountain will also discover the Creator who sculpted it into existence.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6;12

    1. The majestic sight of the mountain after the first snowfall following a long, scorching summer is truly breathtaking. The contrast of the white snow against the blue sky is a sight to behold, except on cloudy or foggy days.

  4. Girl....I love your new home here! I may have to get info from you as to how to change. Mt. Shasta has quite a story. Your post reminds me of the movie "Last of the Dogmen". Have you ever seen this movie? The dogmen Indians were living in deep in the mountainous area and no-one knew! Mt. Shasta is a beautiful place and I love the photos with all of the snow. The old legends sound intriguing and makes you want to investigate. Can you imagine what if? I enjoyed this!!

    1. I bet my husband has seen it. He's the movie buff in the family.
The part that sends chills down my spine is when the otherworldly creatures rise from their underground abode to wander the earth's surface.
      No, thank you!

  9. Loved reading this post. Very interesting about your Mt Shasta. We have a few legends here too in Michigan mainly passed down from the local Indian tribes that once lived here. I love history! Maybe that why I own an antique store. Lots of history has come through our doors. Janice

  10. My first time reading your blog. I will be 70 this January. So can relate to you already just reading this one post. What stood out to me was that you are thinking of getting a colonoscopy. Our doctor who did ours told us it is not advisable to get them at 70 only up to that age.
So please don’t feel pressured to do it by others telling you to have it done. Take it to our Lord
First. I hope that I don’t sound too bossy. Lol I think that most people I know that stay away from tests, vaccines and medications are healthier in the long run. I can’t wait to read more of your beautiful blog. Sharon from nj

  11. Hi Sharon. I'm happy you're here.

I had read that, too, about the age limit for colonoscopies. I thought I would just get it this one and only. I try not to get too many procedures. I agree with you on all the tests, vaccines, and needless medications.
